Default Front/Rear cover alignment tools - are you using them?

Just wondering who is actually using (or has used I should say) the front/rear cover alignment tools? I'm gonna be putting the front and rear covers along with the oil pan onmy newly assembled motor soon and I'm getting mixed input as to whether or not they are really neccesary. I'm pretty clear on setting up the pan so it doesn't protrude from the rear so as not to interere w/ the bell housing, and the crank snout give me a good indication of aligning the front cover, same with the rear, anybody had problems eye balling it?

front cover should be fine tightening down after you get the crank pulley seated. the back cover you may need a tool for.

I never used a tool for the front one but what I have read you should use one for the back.
