countless times, never a problem. All my valves were perfect when I had my heads rebuilt after 4 years, valve seals were gone.

I may burn oil like alot of big strokers, but I don't think my engine can break, from anything.

Whats the most common damage that occurs from hitting the rev limiter anyway?

how much oil do you burn? Man it sucks, I could go through 1/4 court in a night if i'm driving it hard. Close to 1qt in 1k miles. Shitty!

It didn't burn any oil for about the first 6 months, than it gradually got worse. Now, and I ain't shittin ya, I burn 1 qrt every 100 miles. Every time I drive to Lauderdale from Orlando, which is every weekend for the past year (210 miles one way), I fill it before I leave and its 2 quarts low when I get there.

I put engine Honey in it this past weekend when I left Lauderdale to come back to Orlando, two bottles in place of 1 quart of oil during an oil change. When I got to Orlando I checked it the next morning and it was only 1 1/2 qrts low, that **** works. So, about $15.00 a week in oil.

Oh well ,new engine coming very soon.

From what I'm told: The sleeves in my 5 year old LS1 are short. The 4.125 stroke I have has the piston traveling so far down the sleeve that at BDC it rocks back and forth more than normal and causes pre-mature wear of the rings and the cylinder walls. But my builder also told me a couple weeks ago that my oil ring, I think the top oil ring, is .043 size, which is looser than it could have been. ARE built engines back than for big shots of spray so I guess they used rings for that use and not for what I wanted, which was 100% street use and N/A only.

So between the premature ware, and big ring gaps for big shots of nitrous.... big oil consumption. That blows bro. I think thats why I consume oil, cause my rings are set for a 200 shot. Thems the breaks I guess....

I used to bounce off the limiter quite often between shifts when my A4 was on it's way out. I have since rebuilt the transmission and haven't hit it since.

over-revving is very dangerous to an engine.Everything becomes out of time and sync.Lifters bounce off camshaft lobes and engine wear is increased substantially.

The only times I've ever hit it is when I'm doing burnouts/doughnuts.
Doesn't bother me though.

Yeah, thats what my builder told me. They built a badass engine though, that still runs like a champ on a daily basis, silent, smooth and strong...and well over 60,000 miles are on it too.

What are you talking about, a mechanical over rev? The rest of us are talking about the rev limiter. Hitting a 6600 rpm rev limiter is going to save your motor from damage and will not hurt it. Performing a 2-3-2 shift will cause what you're describing.

Just trying to get you on the same page the rest of are. I feel we're talking about two different things here.

Never hit the rev limiter, haven't allowed it too much past 6000-6200 in my shifts.

Everytime I see an Import!!!

I have it set to a 3800 cut out, 3750 cut in, while I'm in neutral.
I like the look one their face when I drive by a parking lot full of hondas and hang the limter out there for about 5 seconds.
