Stock cam is what I would limit that to.

I would at a MINIMUM change the valve springs with ANY cam I installed.

yup as beasst8 said the stock valve train is barely good enough for the stock cam, hence why the slightly bigger ls6 cam in the z06's need the ls6 valve springs. Id say at least go with some comp 918's with any cam choice out there.

I'd ditch the OEM pushrods, too.

ya...if you are under a budget, i would go with comp's 918 and stock retainers. You will be good up to six hundred lift. Pushrods are also recommended since it doesnt take much to bend the stock rods. "cheap insurance"

Yeah but if possible I would try to spring for the tit retainers while your at it. They really help in th upper RPM's.

with the proper tools(tims tool for me) changing valvesprings is not bad at all. just a little time consuming. i helped install 918's on my buddies f13 powered camaro and installed prc dual springs on my tsp 233/239 powered camaro and both swaps went without a hitch.

COMPCAMS makes a 206/214 and a 208/216 with .500/.500 lift. These would work with all stock valvetrain, they do not come with a flame suit however.

I'm running 918's with stock retainers and my lift is .588/.588. They're sufficient.

I agree with this. Even the LS6 cam requires better springs.

Thanks for the anwers. I'm really did not want to instal a cam with stock valvetrain. That become on a talk with a friend who did on an LT1, just a cc503 with out upgrading the vlavetrain, so we were wondering if it can be done on a Ls1 as weel.

I'm running the 02-04 Z06, GM #12565308, 204/218, .550/.550, 117.5 LSA with stock springs and pushrods in my 00 LS1 powered sandrail with no problems. I don't rev it very high. No need to in the dunes.

Does anybody makes a RV cam for an LS1? Something with improved low-rpm torque? In the dunes, torque is your friend.
