Default Rapid ticking???????????

Just did cam swap about 3000 miles now when i give my car gas it starts rapidly ticking. While its idling it does every once in a while. Can somone please tell me what it is i need it fixed asap.

Spark plug wire loose. Guessing you didn't get one on the whole way after the swap.

so yall dont think it lifters or pr to me the sound is coming from in the motor

could be lifters, could be noisy injectors, could be an exhaust leak

how many miles did your motor have on it when you replaced the cam? IMO if its under 70k your lifters should be fine

I agree with the posters above, first guess would be exhaust leak, then plug wires...

Shoot I am getting caught in a rut, this is like the third time I have suggested an exhaust leak, but it definately sounds like your problem. Most plug wire ticking will show at lower RPM and get masked at higher RPM by the engine and any possible remaining connection from the wire to the plug (jumping the gap).

IMHO you have an exhaust leak.

Before I make my final decision though, is your oil pressure good (low pressure could be a lifter), and have you listened with the hood up (an injector ticking will be more apparent), and do you have hardened pushrods (stock pushrods like to bend, but I am sure you did that with your cam swap)?
