back firing when reving down????

back firing when reving down????

when i rev it up it back fires and gurgles bad when reving back down? what causes that? i heard it was my rockers not being torqued to the right specs? please help.....dont wanna blow anything up.......its a 99 ta

You are gonna have to give more info than that. Sounds like a loudmouth exhaust setup honestly. Most LS1's do that along with a raspy sound. What are you doing sending your bottom end up high without a load on it? That is what will start blowing stuff up.

yea ur probley right! transmission is pulled off car and exhaust, i do have a loudmouth but u cant tell it does it with the cat back......

Whoever does your tune can cut fuel on decel so you stop getting the backfiring.

i had a really bad exaust leak at the head and once it was fixed that problem went away, it would backfire nasty too

Alot of times, oxygen gets into the exhaust somehow (usually a leak someplace) and that is what causes the backfiring. Like another person mentioned it also happens when the fuel tables are way rich on decel. I'd check for exhaust leaks first and see if it gets any better if you find any and correct those issues first.
