Okay, I bit.

So your 1998 with an LS6 intake, 241 heads, lid and a catback did 340.

The phrase "stock GM parts" makes me think otherwise.

So why doesn't anyone just throw on an LS6 manifold, 243 heads, and an LS6 cam, and call it stock?

...some people do where I'm from. If there was a "stock LS1" class locally, you better believe everyone competing would have that setup or more and still call it "stock". There's a "stock" LS1 car (with bolt ons) that pulls 116mph right around the corner from my house. Just ask 'em. There's also a 243 head, Z06 cam, LS6 intake "stock" SS that I go to school with.

If it had an LS6 intake, and 241 heads, then I would have mentioned that. Stock 98 heads, untouched ls1 intake. The only mods where the Lid and cat-back from an 02 SS, and a k&n filter...that is all. Would you call that performance parts. The power from an 02 SS would still be great. The car is just a factory freak, and it layes the power down nicely.... ther are a few modded Lightenings, Z06's, cammed LT1's and modded LS1's that will tell you!

Man, that's awesome you got such a strong car. What does it do in the 1/4?

My '98 with headers, cut-out, lid, tune, and 4.10's only did 313 rwhp, but went 12.52 @ 110.04. I can't imagine if I had an extra 27 rwhp.

I did 453 cam only, but that was in my 06 C6 LS2 corvette. It was using Thunder Racing's TRAK cam.

It's not a question of "performance parts". It's a question of non stock parts.

You have a lid/cat-back LS1 that dyno'd 340. Nothing to be ashamed of there, just don't try to misrepresent it.

[QUOTE=blkZ28spt]It's not a question of "performance parts". It's a question of non stock parts.

They are stock parts though, right??? So if I put 02 exhuast manifold on a stock 98, its no longer stock? So what do I consider my car if it isn't stock? I dont think that it really falls under the "bolt-on" catagory, but that is my opinion Still the 02 SS is only rated at 320 at the crank.

Actually my car shouldn't even be topic of discussion here. This thread has been highjacked all to hell. Anyone can feel free to start a new thread discussing this topic elsewhere. I would like to hear more opinions on this.

No, they are not. YOUR car did not come with THOSE parts from the factory, therefore they are not stock parts.

Using that logic I could install an LS6 intake, LS6 cam and LS6 heads on my 98 and say it is stock.

Shouldn't be that hard to do. My CTS-V w/ls6 makes 372rwhp with FAST 90, EWP, and a tune. With headers and more tuning I should be at 400. Thats with my dual mass flywheel and 2 piece driveshaft. 50 more hp would be easy from a decent sized cam. I've got faith in your car.

Jon

Really? I thought it was pretty much universally understood that internal combustion engines will produce more power with a cooler intake charge.

I wonder what an iron block LSx with an LS1 reciprocating assembly would do with L92 heads, an L76 intake, and a ZO7 cam...

... you know, a STOCK car! Probably put down some killer STOCK numbers, especially if we strapped it to the loosest dynojet we can find!
