Default head bolts

i just got some new head bolts from gm. i have them all set a close as i could. my question is some were easy to get to 90 degrees, and then turn 90 degrees again. others are close but maybe a little short. how exact do they need to be? i know i should of got arp and torqued them down and been done. but theses tty are a little tougher. also if i back out a bolt now and reset it can it be used again? i dont want to warp the head.
thanks '

Im pretty sure that you cannot reuse the TTY bolts. Id get them as close as you can.

Yup, i'd be more worried about the threads in the block, as they weren't exactly designed for doing TTY multiple times.

Why would you be backing a bolt out? You torque them first then you stretch them.

Its not hard to go 90* or 45*. I used a sharpie and some common sense and had no trouble at all.

Don’t back them out. Once they’re torque I think if you back one out you'll need to replace it. Not sure of all the TTY rules but if you could just clean it up and used more loctite then you wouldn’t need to use new ones all the time.

Don't reuse a TTY bolt. When you torque it, your actually stretching the bolt. They can't be reused.

so i know all the bolts were torqued to 22 lbs correctly. how important is it to be dead on when stretch the bolts. most are right on except 3 that are maybe 10-15degrees less. i will get them there but som e bolts went 90 and then 90 again very easily. thats what had me worried.

Why do you have a few bolts that are 10-15 degrees less? Put the damn wrench on them and move them further. You just cant back them out but you can turn them in further to the point they were supoosed to go. Put a pipe on the end of your ratchet or breaker bar if you need to. Leverage baby!

By leaving a few bolts improperly torqued you running the risk of having to pull the heads again to fix your head gasket once it distorts or maybe evcen warps the head in an extreme case. Metal heats and expands and contracts with temperature. Having one area tighter than the other can cause distortion.
If you have the valve covers already on pull them off and do it right. This is not worth ******* up due to laziness or any other reason.
