Default what can i change on my combo to make more power?

Hey guys,

Well i need to find some more power so please help me if you can. I have a set of TEA 5.3's milled .012. Around 61 cc w/ fel-pro gaskets that crush to .052. Fast 90 w/ NW TB. (un ported) FMS F-13 112+4. 32 lb injectors, March pulley, hooker headers, ory through borla exhaust. When car was first put together and dynoed it made 434 and 396 through 10 bolt w/ 3.73's. 24 degrees of timing. After i installed the 12 bolt (4.11's) i got tired of the way the car acted and cut off so i carried it to another tuner. Turns out Jeff Creech had it fucked up. He had the car tuned for stock injectors and had the timing all screwed up. First pull after the 12 bolt was 417. The guys at RPM got it right and got the power up to 423. Runs 100% better but now i want more power. I know i could take the intake off and have it ported. But i cant put a bigger cam in without flycutting. So what would you change if it were yours? Thanks guys Charles

Interesting your saying the first guy messed up the tune but your using those numbers in your sig. You say the other people fixed it but your numbers arent as good. And no I dont buy into the 410's robbing power. I changed gears with no difference to my dyno numbers.

Mamofying your 90 will net you more power. You said working with what you have so that means keeping the cam you have or this would be an easy question to answer.

Keep everything the way it is and put n2o on there. At this point thats your best bang per buck.

Or get a whole new setup.

i have never updated my sig. Those #'s were with a stock 10 bolt. I have installed a 12 bolt and yes those will rob some power. The car made 417 with the old tune after the 12 bolt, and after the other guys tuned it it went to 423. But it drives ALOT better. Changing the cam is not out of the question but i cant go any bigger without flycutting.

sig changed.

How about putting some better flowing heads on there? That would be the easiest thing to do.

Port the FAST, add a cut-out, and maybe a 150 shot.

Gears do not rob power , they scew the dyno readings by making it seem lower than they are. usually by 8-10rwhp.

Um... a 12 bolt WILL rob power... it's less efficient

No, rear gears are independent of the motor. If your motor is making 400HP and you swap to 4.10s, your motor is still making 400HP.

Yes, the motor is still making 400, but the 12 bolt is less efficient. Therefore, your RWHP is lower, which is what really matters. Who care's what a motor's power is if it isn't getting it to the ground?

eamador11 and cerebrex are right. The dyno isn't lying when you lose power by putting on a 12-bolt. The fact is that it's less effecient and puts a smaller percentage of the engine power to the ground... so your car puts out less power. FWHP is not a useful figure in most cases.
