Default Which cam?

I am torn between cams. I am thinking about going with the G5x3 or the Magic stick 3. I have a 346 LS1 with a LS6 intake, Long Tubes, underdrive pulley, 4.10's, six speed, and a ported throttle body. My buddy has a g5x3 and I was really impressed! The Magic stick 3 has a good rpm range. This is mostly a daily driven summer car. What do you guys think?

Feel free to add a different cam!

In other threads posing the same question, I've seen claims that the MS3 is more of a top-end only cam, where the G5X3 is designed to build power all over. Some of that could be changed by advancing the MS3 upon installation.
But if you are talking about a street car (primarily) then I would go for the one that benefits the majority of your use, over the one that may show some gains 5% of the time.

I dont like the torque curve on most the MS3 dynos, just go and search for the H/C combos for the G5X3 u will see a bunch of ppl with 460+ rwhp & 400+ tq.

I know a couple people who had Ms3's who put down well over 400 (415rwhp) cam only. Not to mention it's a good nitrous cam.

There is a difference between track numbers and dyno numbers. If you want to be a dyno queen, by all means go with whatever cam you feel makes the most power in that simulated environment. I chose the MS3, put down 360hp/321tq on a Mustang dyno and is proven on the track. My track numbers are in my sig, and click on the pic for my full mod list. MS3 cam only, auto with 3.42 gear & 17" MT drag radial, I ran consistant 10.8-10.9, and daily drove the car. Dyno numbers aren't always everything.

I realize your numbers were on a Mustang Dyno, but what kinda weight were you at to run in the 10's with those numbers? Good suspensions & Chassis I assume too.

Good numbers - damn good numbers

If your going to compare the 2 , G5X3 should sit aside and let its big brother tango with the MS3 big brother goes by G5X4 . Believe theirs also G5XX's .

The few who voted custom grind versions need to enter in specs .

My vote custom grind around MS3 specs . XE-R Lobes

I have choosen Thunder Racings 230/224. not even close to what I thought I was going to get. I guess thats the fun in building a car.

I went with the 230/224 so I could keep my 918 springs and what not. I also didn't want a high power band because this will be a mostly street car that I will drive everyday in the summer.

Thanks for the imput guys!

I cant go wrong about the ms3 I agree its a proven cam, but still in my opinion I beleive more in the Lg cams.

as u talking about results, look at the cam only section.

I gotta cast my vote for LG Motorsports' g5x3. Why not run the g5x4 though?? I wish I would have.

Raceweight was 3275lbs, and I had full suspension minus front shocks. I am by no means bashing any cams, nor favoring one cam over another, I am just trying to let those who are deciding on a cam know that I had great results with the MS3. That Camaro is gone, but I am going to be building another over the winter. I will probably go with the MS3 again, as I liked it that much.

Here is a link to what the car sounded like :

i like how the ms3 sounds. sounds nice. correct me if im wrong though guys, but i heard the ms3 is more peaky cam, while the g5xx cams offer more low end torque than the ms3 and still peaky.
