Default lifters tick after cam install,, Why?

I got the cam installed tonight and when I started it the lifters were ticking. I had it running for about a min or so and that was it. Is this normal to do this for a little while? Like I said it hasn't ran for more that a couple min.

oil pressure is fine and as far as setting the preload I talked to comp and they said to just use the 918 springs and all would be fine. I did use the 7.425 pushrods though. I didn't know if it just needs to run a bit or what. Basicly I just started it and walked up to the engine and then shut it off. It hasn't ran much at all

Mine took several minutes to quiet down. When I put in the Morel lifters, it took a little longer because the lifters were new.

I guess I will let it run for a bit and see what it does. Are these like the oldschool cam where you have to hold it at 2000 for a bit to breakin the cam?

If they bottom the valve would be held open. Not enough preload will tick, sewing machine noise is more from fast ramp rates. Noises are hard to describe without hearing, but a "tick" may indicate not enough preload, did you measure it?

No I didn't measure it. I just went with what comp told me. One guy at comp said to use the 7.4 and then the next day when I called this other guy said to use the 7.425. So I went with the 7.425 Maybe it just needs to run a little longer.

Either let it run for a few minutes or pull one cover and check the length, keep us posted.
