Question Need Some Help on A Custom Grind Cam & Heads

I have been doing a lot of reasearch on cams here for the past year. I have decided to go with a custom grind. I decided to go with a Comp XE-R lobe 228/230 .588/.592 lift. The questions I am having are what LSA and advanced should I have ground in? I chose this cam because its a street car 95% of the time. I want it to have a nice healthy lope, and not have to spin it to the moon to get peak power.
On heads, I was thinking of going with a set of new stage 2.5 5.3L heads from TSP, with 2.02 1.575 valves due to the small runner size for more low end. I am going with budget heads for cost reasons. Any other suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

If I put that cam in mine I would go 110+2 LSA 108ICL

Plug in the cam specs both at .50 and .006 durations along with LSA and ICL into the many SCR and DCR calculators floating on the net and here on the site. That way you can see what valve events will make for a good DCR and overlap amount.

What kind of compression are you looking for?

with stock bore engine 59CC combustion chambers and .045 compressed head gasket I get 8.54 DCR and 11.27 SCR 112 LSA, 11.26 SCR and 8.61 DCR on 111 LSA, and 11.26 SCR and 8.83 DCR on 110 LSA all with 2 degrees advanced ground in. I'm thinking im going to go with the 110LSA. What do you think?

I have the exact same cam with a 114 LSA+4. I also have the TSP Stage 1 heads. It is completely streetable with 375 rwtq coming in at 3000 rpm.
Very nice lope but it doesn't sound as if it is going to die any second. Tuning will help get you what you want.

I say go with a 112+2 and spin that bad boy! Don't forget to note where the cam will peak and what the curves look like. A 110+2 is going to start to run out of breath over 6200-6300.

6200-6300 is perfect for the peak. Like I said its a street cam not a rev to 6.5K + to get the peek power out of it cam. For the specs I used a VE spreadsheet off of here, and the lobe information from comp.

228/230 .588/.592 110+2 (XE-R)

42IVC
47EVO
9* overlap, exhaust biased.

6200 rpm peak (~)

that would be on .040 gaskets, 64cc chambers (243 CNC unmilled)

BTW, I would get the Stage 1 PRC 243 (LS2) casting, stock valved, but with platinum springs. (in case you step up bigger later)

I made 410 RWHP and 395 RWTQ using Dart Pro LS1 heads and a 220/224 LSA112 .596/.591 lift. Here is my dyno graft, if you want streetable power this is it.
