You don't break a coil pack, plug, or wire in a mechanical overrev. Just because it doesn't happen all the time doesn't mean it isn't so. If you had a bent pushrod you would most likely be able to hear it and it would run worse and down on power. However, again, just because it doesn't feel down on power doesn't mean something isn't bent. I'd personally pull the heads and at least check the PR's if nothing else.

I always pull the heads to get to the pushrods. Just better to be safe than sorry. ...Might want to pull the heads regardless just to check and see if you have a bent valve or other issues going on.

Yah, just take out your pushrods and roll them on a slat surface to see if they are bent. If you bent the pushrods bad then you might have bent a valve and put a nice smiley on some pistons. I did a long time went from 3rd back to 2nd at 6800 rpms around 118. i put some nice smiley in my stock pistons. But my car would even run with the bent valves.

Use a sheet of glass to see if they are straight.

once opon a time i was cruicing about 45 or 50 mph in 4rd when i decided i was going to raise some hell and attempted to hit 3rd and hit 1st instean and luckily quickly clutched it and was fortunate enough to have straight p-rods still.the stockers bend very easily so if you are hearing a tick i would pull them to see, they may be bent worse than you think or may still be straight.
