Ported heads and PRC Dual Springs, cam is 233/239 .595/.603 113LSA. Power is just flaat past 5600 till 6200 or so and then drops off. I think the motor just needs more air than the truck style can provide in the upper rpms.

Anyone ever tried to run a 408 on 8-9.5:1? How much power is normally left on the table that could be had from 10+? Not trying to hijack but just though it would be nice to run on cheap stuff or medium stuff.

Been kinda wondering this myself. If i only lost like 50hp from going to 8.5:1 or 9:1 vs 10:1 then i would go that route, leave it open to FI later on.

PS: I looked at eagles site, and they have a prebalanced 408 kit with je pistons for 2600$ on jegs.com Might go that route.

I'm basically wondering the same thing. Texas speed is sending me a couple 408 estimates and are telling me if i'm going to spray a 200 shot then i don't want anymore than 11:3 compression. Thunder Racing on the other hand is telling me no more than 9:5 or 10:1.

You guys running the 12:1 compressin, etc. How is it on the street? I believe one of you said you are running pump gas with it? Is that the usual case with that high of a compression? Thanks

Well I'm not running a 408, but I am running an alum 402. 12.8 to 1 compression, and it runs on 105 unleaded. I do plan on spraying it, I will start off with a 125 hit, but I'm sure it will be 2 stages of that much before I'm thru.

How about RWHP numbers? I am in the process of buying parts for my 408 build up. Iron block, and forged internals. Staing around 11.0:1 to 11.5:1. Will be running ETP 240 heads. I think I will gernade my six speed for this one.
