Well, ive got the time and the money to do a cam swap now, but now Im torn on what cam to get. Id like to do this swap as cheaply as I can, so i think i want to stay with the TSP 918 cam kit instead of the PRC Dual, plus this is my first cam swap. I think the V2 would be pushing it on 918s, especially since i drive at least 15k per year, even though TSP will sell the $599 kit with a V2.

Perhaps the 228R on a 112 would be best for me? Or another...??

I drive my car about 2 miles to school each day, so the warm up thing is going to be annoying. Im going to tune it with a local dynojet and my VHP Tuner with a 6800 rev limiter. An LS6 intake, and 4.10s will be going with this swap as well, and Im running a BorlaMouth/TSP Catted Y set up. If I knew the Custom cam that PREDATOR-Z recomended wouldnt be freakin expensive then i would absolutely love to go with that! If that is my perfect setup then I will just get that one....who could i call to do that cam...TSP??

Any help would be awesome!

I think I am most happy with the cam that Predator-Z recomended for me, 228/232, .588/.595 110+4 (Comp XE-R) custom grind. It will work with my vinci programmer. Today Im going to find out who can make it for me.

What Spring/pushrod setup would you recommend? Should I go with the 7.425 pushrods and 918s? Or something different. Im going to call TSP as soon as they open to get an idea on a few things since i have a lot to order at one time.

You can run 918's or TSP gold duals if you prefer.
If you choose 918's I recommend TSP's titanium retainers.
Cam only with unmilled heads and stock gaskets, you can run either 7.400 or 7.425's.
I prefer the 7.425's (Comp Cams)for less valvetrain noise.

So from what I gather, with the 7.425 pushrods all i have to do is reinstall the rockers to the stock 22 ft/lbs and my valve springs and everything else will be fine? Or once my 918s are on do i need to do something different with my rockers?

Install, trq to specs (22ftlbs), rotate 2 or 3 times the crank by hand and re-check trq specs. Just be careful to have the correct trq amount on the trq wrench.

I just talked to Zach at TSP and he said it all sounded good and they can have it ground whenever i want it. The only thing he said is that its probably going to be a bitch to get it tuned. I wonder if my VHP tuner will be up to the task. I know it does incremental percentage adjustments accross the board with the fuel and timing...i know it wont maximize my HP, but will it do?

I've never used one, but I dont think it can do for you what a good tune will. You wont regret a real tune I can tell you that...

Oh yeah, no doubt. But i see it getting me within 10hp of a real tune. If i use a wideband or a GM TECH II to monitor the o2 levels then i think i can get it close.

Yeah you can get it pretty close though. It will start/idle a little rough though, but thats it.... It's not a terribly hard to tune cam...

Aside from spring life issues, what is the advantage of the Xer lobe over the XE lobe?
