ASP Pulleys are Awesome
Got mine installed last night, and kick_*ss today.. Wasn't as bad as I read.. Took about an hour for the first one, and 18 minutes with a short break for a drink on the second..
Damn it is nice to have all the right tools to get the job done, and for those of you getting ready to do it, don't try to take any shortcuts, go spend the money on the puller and a Big Friggin Torque wrench, your arms and your back will thank you for it..
I am amazed at how quickly the revs come up now!!
Dang thing barks the tires without trying now..

Re: ASP Pulleys are Awesome
Awesome little mod and easy as hell!! I had mine sitting in the garage for like 8 months until I got a chance to install it. I did that and the Hotcam at the same time....on a side note, is it normal for the tach to be off after the install?

Re: ASP Pulleys are Awesome
I like my ASP pulley as well. Don't listen to any of the goons that try to tell you you will have charging problems. I leave my radio on in my car while I wash/zaino it all the time, I have never had a problem! One added benefit, my ASP pulley felt a bit lighter then my stock pulley, weight off the front end is always a great thing!

I haven't had charging problems but when sitting at a light with the head lights one, the radio kicking (C&W of course) and my rear defroster, it gets dim inside. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Red, try MTI, I think they're the ASP pulley with a little red paint on them. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Got mine in 4 days from PPO
2 pulleys/2 belts/bolt
209 + 12 shipping
easy install, no charging issues, etc.
others are charging 225 for just the crank pulley.

I replaced the crank pulley and the alternator pulley.
Have noticed that things will get a little dim at an idle. I will run it with the alternator pulley for awhile, and if it gives me problems, I will put it back to stock..
Crank pulley is staying though.. <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">

Interesting you should say this, the other set I installed on kick_*ss's car seems to have done the same thing to him..
I am going to bring it back in tomorrow and see if there is something screwy with the pulley that would cause the tach to go nuts.. I will let you guys know what I find..
How far off does it seem your tach is?
Mine is an A4, and kick_*ss's car is an M6, not sure whether that would make a diff or not..

As far as I know, they are the same pulleys for the C5.
they are really hard to get ahold of, I just lucked out when a friend of mine called ASP and they just happened to have a couple of sets there.

Re: ASP Pulleys are Awesome
I have ASP pullies too. I didn't notice a difference powerwise as I did them when I had the motor out to do heads & cam.

Well, this goon will tell you he does. At night, the minute it doesn't rev above 1,200rpm's it goes down. Letting it sit at idle, will dip it into the red. Confirming it with A-Tap, I was only getting 11.7 volts at idle. That compared to 13.6 while driving. That's hard line evidence that they can affect charging.

Re: ASP Pulleys are Awesome
Oh, BTW I'm not complaining about the pulleys, just stating my results with them. Since I drive my car about once a month it doesn't bother me, but if I had to sit in Chicago rush hour traffic everyday (especially now since it gets dark at 4:30pm), I may feel different.

Re: ASP Pulleys are Awesome
Chuck, I autotapped before and after and there is definetly a change. I hit the rev limiter, while the tach showed only 5500rpms. I am guessing less rotating mass might be the reason, but I'll know for sure when I install the new tach I just ordered.
