According to the service manual, the Camaro belt is just like the Vette. Simply remove the AC belt, but you have to take the main belt off just to get to it. The AC compressor and brackets can be removed to save weight as well.
When I did my underdrive, I just took the stock belt to a parts shop and had them sell me one 1" smaller, and that worked.

Crawl under the car Greg, you will see that the AC is driven off a separate belt, and the that the crank pulley even has two grooves on it, one for the main belt and another for the AC belt. I have driven my car like this for two years.

Hmmm... So you have a belt for each crank pulley? How many cranks you got on that car?
Basically, there is a small belt that runs off the crank to the AC that is completely void of anything else. If you're gonna yank the AC, just take that belt off. It'll have no effect on anything else.

Yea, two seperate belts.
Question though, do you drive yours in rain or in winter?
Reason I ask is because when you have the HVAC controls in either defrost mode, it runs the A/C compressor to help reduce moisture on the windshield.
If not, you could be driving in the rain, get a foggy windshield and the defroster is virtually useless.

Weird...I have the fuses pulled for my ac and the compressor because they used to run all the time with the heat on. My AC kept breaking and I wanted to be 100% sure that it would never run again. My defroster still works perfectly though...
