This got looked over on LS1.com during all the hooplah. Figured I'd give it another try here.
I recently beta tested an upgraded MAFT that is calibrated for the richer idle that a LS6 MAF has. For those who don't know, a stock unmodified LS6 MAF has a much richer idle calibration, than an LS1 MAF. The makers of the MAFT addressed this problem and now incorperate a new chip in all new MAFT's. If you just recently bought one you may have the new chip already installed. Those who have older MAFT's can order the new chip from Ramchargers. A 5 wire adapter also will come with the chip.
As you know the LS6 MAF flows more than the LS1 MAF, and is good for around 10 HP, and around 1 tenth at the track. With the new cal, it makes it much easier to dial in your base settings. All you do to switch over to the LS6 cal is flip up dip switch #4 to on. I left the screen in initially, and the new calibration was dead on, on my LT's. I richened up my base 1 click as I was running nitrous at the time, just to be safe.
This shot shows the LS6 MAF with a fernco, and the 5 wire adapter.![](http://www.motownmuscle.cz28.com/images/dsc00749.jpg)
This shot shows the 5.0 chip, and if you look real close you can see switch #4 set to on.![](http://www.motownmuscle.cz28.com/images/dsc00751.jpg)
The driveability is just like stock, and has been on the car for a couple thousand miles. While working on the car once, I needed to move it real quick, and forgot to hook up the MAFT, and was surprised at how rich the LS6 MAF was at idle. It is definately working
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

It's a K+N piece. I'm not sure of the part number, but I got it at Ramchargers. It replaces the oil cap, and is just a vent basically. I added it to help with my oil consumption. Not really sure if it helps much, but it can't hurt

Are you talking about a stock OEM LS6 MAF? I understand the Pace LS6 MAF is already calibrated to the LS1. If that is true, I would think that the older MAFTs would not need the new chip [if] used with the Pace MAF.

You would have to call Ramchargers to get an exact price. I'm not sure how much it is.
If you have a Pace Maf and it truly is calibrated then, no you don't need the chip. But if you just use a plain LS6 MAF then you want the chip.

How about you bring that LS6 maf over to my side of town and see how much hp it really gives ya. . I'm willing to bet it's not enough.

I wish someone had answered Kimchee and Rice's question because that is the situation I am in right now. I have the Pace LS6 MAF and just installed my MAFT. I left all the switches on off and set it to 2% rich at WOT since it has been pinging at WOT. Havent even started it up yet. I am going to assume that I have the switches right. I will let you know if my Sh*t blows up or not.
Next is some Autotap runs early in the AM before the minivans come out to play. I will be going to the track on Sunday on hope to have it tuned up just right. Peace

FWIW:
SLP says their 85mm MAF is calibrated. I was using the older MAFT without the new chip.
When I used the MAFT with the 85mm at base settings the car made 317rwhp 329rwtq with the MAFT being in the loop. Adding fuel at 2% & 4% WOT had no effect adding 6% the hp dropped to 280rwhp. Removing the MAFT from the loop the car jumped to 323rwhp and 335rwtq. Later at another dyno session the car gained hp when leaned out 2%.
RamChargers said the SLP 85mm MAF and the MAFT (old one at the time)is didn't work quite as well together as the stock MAF descreened.
