Default Oil pump recommendations?

I've searched around, and I haven't found many posts concerning what oil pumps to get. Mellings? SLP? Plain Jane LS6? Other? I'd create a poll, but I'm sure there are a zillion out there that I'm not familiar with.

From my understanding the stock LS4 pump is a high volume high pressure pump. It uses pressurized oil to operate the D.O.D. function of the engine. I'm not sure what operating pressure and volume it will be able to work to , but it's gotta be better than a stock LS1.

Anyone else? I'm inclined to buy the SLP pump, but I'd hate to buy something without seeing at least some feedback on it.

I have the SLP ported LS6 oil pump. It works great and is reasonably priced.

i thought ported oil pumps only flowed more oil and not increased oil pressure. Shims increase oil pressure right?

Melling #10296 Oil Pump. High Volume(15% More) High Pressure(50psi+ At Idle Hot), I Use These Pumps All The Time, And They Are By Far The Best Ls Pumps Out There Right Now. But I Strongly Recomend If You Get One, Change The Releif Spring Out To The Blue Color One. It Gives You This Spring Option In The Box When You Purchase One. The Blue Spring Is 40psi Hot At Idle, And Around 65-70psi Wot. Hope This Helps. They Cost Around $140
