~~~A/F gauge question~~~
I have a toggle wired in, so I can switch from side to side.
So the a/f guage only reads from 1 O2 sensor at a time? So is it correct to say that you either have to get a toggle switch or have 2 guages to monitor both sensors?
Another Q: Does any manufacturer make an accurate a/f guage? I know the autometer is a popular choice, but someone mentioned it being innacurate.
The gauges are accurate..and you don't need a toggle switch because when you wire it, it reads both 02's...this is what it says on the instructions I have...it wires into the 02 section of the PCM wires...
The gauges fluctuate, unless you have a true A/F gauge that reads volts.
The instructions have you tap a wire at the PCM... Correct. This however is not the wire for both O2's. Each o2 sensor has its own wire. You have 8 O2 wires to be exact. The ones that you use are the High Bank Sensor 1's.... You will either need 2 gauges or a toggle switch to get a reading from each one.....
But 2 a/f guages would look cool on a firebird in the AC vents, one in the left, and one in the right . Hmmm, now what to put in the middle?.....
hmmmmmm, that is interesting. I always though it read both too. Guess not.
Have not seen them in the AC Vents, but I did see a car with a dual gauge pod, with both filled with A/F ratio gauges...
You need to copy/paste them in a new window. Give thanks to Geoshities for that.
So if you wanted to run both guages, do you just hook the other one up to High Bank Sensor 2? I don't know what the wiring looks like for an a/f on an ls1.
And would the a/f guages alone be good enough to enable you to tune your car, say with a maf translator? If you dont have atap that is.
I just want to know if it is normal to fluctuate like that. The car runs fine and I do not have access to Auto Tap.....George
Why not just get the inline adapter that Thunder Racing sells. It plugs in right by your O2 sensor. Then you run 1 wire up to your guage from there.
I would not rely on the guages for accuracy. I run ATAP and check the guage at the same time. The guages are consistent, but not real accurate. Get an ATAP reading and look at where the guage reads.
