Spark plug question.... just a quick easy one

I went to napa tonight and they told me that TR55's are for the v-6 only(I saw the application book myself)
everyone talks about them so I want to give them a go....
so my question is what the difference between TR55's and TR5's as napa told me the one's I want are actually the TR5's,
maybe a dumb question but.... hey ya don't know unless you ask <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
I have the TR5's but wanted to see before i put them in!!
Hopefully tonight....

NAPA...LOL!!!
They are full of it.
The TR 55's don't really care if they are in a 4 cylinder, a V6 or a V8. At Advance Auto they almost got upset when they realized I was getting TR55's for my T/A and not for an import, they keep saying 4 plugs right and I keep saying no 8 plugs...
The TR55's worth very well I've had NGK's TR55's in my car for over a year and many other on the board way longer than that.
They are full of it.

Napa doesn't know what they're talking about. TR-55's will work, best damn plugs period! <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Just go make up a car, tell them you need 8 TR55s or whatever for a 1963 Alfa Romeo 138 Type S-54 then they'll look it up and wont be able to find it in thier book (because it doesn't exist) so then you ask them to just go look on the shelf <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

NGK TR55 Stock # 3951 .059 Stock heat range
...I would recommend these plugs to someone who lived in a colder than houston climate.
NGK TR6 Stock # 4177 .035 One step colder than stock
...These are what I recommend to most H/C users... in addition to nitrous users. The colder plug will help fight detonation. I recommend the gap to be set at 50 thous for most H/C cars.
NGK TR5 Stock # 2238 .039 Stock heat range... ...some folks who use nitous like these plugs. And they DO work well in that situation... provided the "shot" isnt TOO large. I personally would still recommend the TR6's over them for the extra protection
NGK TR55VX Stock # 2885 .050 Platinum stock heat range . ...I dont like them or recommend them for an LS1 enthusiast. Platinum retains heat....this is BAD as far as detonation goes.

Stock gap is .060, performance gap would be in the .040 range. I split the ground evenly and went .050.

If you can get away with it. .50 would be better. I ran into spark probs so I reduced my H/C spark plug gap to .44 thous.
That small of a difference most users wouldnt notice. But when your looking for every little 10th of a HP.
Experiment. Find what works for YOUR car.

After using TR55's at 55 and having them work great, I tried TR6 at 45 for my Bolt-On car. TR6 at 45 was way too tight for my bolt car...which as mentioned above is better for a Heads and Cam car...my car lost 6rwhp on the dyno and about 3 miles per gallon. I've went back to TR55's they are at 57 right now mpg is the best to date and I'll dyno soon, I think my lost ponies will be back.

Since your compression ratio is stock. Maybe just a touch less because of the more than stock overlap of the Hammer cam. I would have to give the nod to the TR55's on a 50 thous gap. Now that is off the cuff and with out experimenting...and within those parameters, that is all I can give. Used on a bolt-on motor, that worked for me. And from how you described your motors goals as.... it "should" work for you. (IMO)
Run the largest gap you can with no spark problems. The larger flame kernal "should" produce a larger/more powerful explosion, there by generating more power. (IMO)
