Default TICKING NOISE

I have a ticking noise in my 99 trans am that is excessively loud. it speeds up with faster idle speeds and it sounds like its coming from the top/rear of the engine on the passenger side. its quiet at cold start-up but is most loud when the engine is hot. its been in the shop twice and all the shop did was run top engine cleaner through it. it didn't quiet the noise at all. my friend said he read a bulletin about one or two cyclinder bore being too big. does anyone have any suggestions on what the ticking is or come across the problem?
thanks...JOSH

Sounds like it could be fuel injectors.

Sounds like the purge solenoid, however that is on the driver's side near the front where the fuel lines come up.

If so, I beat mine with a hammer and restarted the car, ticking went away.

What do you mean by hammering it? Mine has a really loud tick and kinda a fluttering through first gear. It sounds like a bad lifter. It's going to the dealer soon after thanksgiving and hopefully they will fix it.

JDC:
What kind of mods do you have? Headers?

jimmypop: Your deal sounds like the AIR check valve. You could run the restrictor plates or try replacing the valves if they're high milage.

Sound like you have a bent push rod. It will act like you described.

My vote is also a bent pushrod. Piston slap gets quieter when the engine warms. Injectors aren't that loud and shouldn't "flutter."

I agree, it doesn't sound like the purge solenoid as that's more an electric motor like ticking.

SOunds like you have a bent pushrod.

With the bent pushrod idea, were yall talking to me or JDC? Also I'm not sure how it could be a bent pushrod since it's an A4, I thought you could only bend them if you had an M6 and hit the rev limiter?
