Default Are Loudmouths Legal??

Does anyone know if the Loudmouth is 50-state legal? More specifically, I would need to know if I could pass inspection with this thing in Texas. Anybody have any experience? Thanks!

You gotta be kidding? Is there a certificate with the exhaust to show that?

If so, this system would have to be the way to go - light, loud, and stainless steel.

I have one on my SS and I know of 3 people in my area that have had them for a while, only one of them has got it inspected with it and he passed, it is 50 state legal

Seriously, because the state of Texas can have gestapo-like inspections, I wondered if there was going to be trouble with the system. You never know when some jacka$$ might try and say something.

It's 50 state SMOG legal, but it depends on where you live whether or not you'll get a noise pollution ticket.

Noise pollution ticket?? Guess I'll have to be very gentle on the gas every time the radar detector goes off.

Yeah, my friend got a $50 noise pollution ticket. Along with a $125 speeding ticket in my car. The cops haven't bothered me yet. I just look around before I get on her.

MUSTANGEATER is right on the money. All catback systems are Federal Emission Standards legal (unless stated "for off road use only" ), however they may not be "sound emission" legal depending what state you live in.

Here in the liberal state of California (thank you Highway Patrol <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> ) from 1984 and up, the exhaust system can not be louder than 82db from 50' away. If you have a moddified exhaust, when you get smog tested, they will test the sound with a db meter.

I decided to opt out of the Loudmouth option and go with a Corsa and a cutout. Thus obnoxiously loud and free-flowing when needed, but sane otherwise. I was also warned that a Loudmouth on a big cube engine would make me sound ProStock - definitely do not want the kind of law enforcement attention that would bring. Thanks for the input anyway.
