Default What difference lift??

Lets assume stock heads, long tube headers, Mufflex 3.5" single in and single out, stock intake. With duration of 224*/228* and a 112* LSA with a 111* IC; what would be the power differences between .530"/.540" lift and the more radical .566"/.575"? Are the bigger lift cams worth it? How often would I need to cahnge valve springs?

Anyone have info on how much more power the .566"/.575" cam will have over the .530"/.540"? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

I'm sorry but I can't tell the diffidence on power but with the .566"/.575" cam you would HAVE to get head work done and double springs. I would suppose if your heads would flow enough air the bigger would be fast but.... (you would need head work) If you use the 530"/.540" can you can use good after market springs. Both cams look good for either Nitrous or forced induction. I just bought a Lunati 221/224 .558 .560 @ 114 and I will be using Copm Cam 941 springs. With my lift I am told to change springs every 20,000 miles or sooner.

The power difference will be pretty negligable with stock heads. With ported heads (that will see more of a flow difference at high lifts), you might see 3-5 hp difference between the two cams, but honestly...on stock heads, you'll be just as fast with fewer valvetrain problems with the lower lift cam.

That is just what I wanted to hear!!
Yes, the cam may be used with forced induction in the future. (ProCharger most likely, but I keep thinking about a turbo....) I like the fewer valve train problems--I will step up to Comp 918 or 941 springs, whichever Comp suggests. Heads might get a mild clean-up by myself.

If you're planning to get the heads cut for the 941s, just go ahead and cut them for 987s, a double spring. It would be more reliable in the long run.

you don't need to get your heads cut to install 941 springs.

Yeah, I thought the 941 and 918 did not require the heads to be cut.
