Default TR224..dissapointed

Well my friend just installed the TR224 in his 99 SS and i must say i am disappointed in the sound of it....Untuned and u can bearly tell there is a cam in there thru the Pacestter LT's and Loudmouth. I was expecting a little more sound to it.

On the other hand it runs like a champ!! Very good cam for the money made a big noticeable difference. Raced another buddies STS turbo WS6 (10lbs)and beat him by about 1-1.5 cars untuned. Turboed car had a hell of a time trying to pull the camaro in...just couldnt do it till they were past the 1/4 mile even then it still took a while.

We consider a 224 Cam stock around here.Should idle and drive just like stock but with more HP.

Yea its not on my car its a friends...but it runs pretty damn strong just i was expecting a little more sound out of it although it is only on a 114 LSA....I hope my patriot 226 on a 112 sounds meaner...lol... It is untuned so his idle is still some where around 6-700ish.

put in something above about 240 on a 112 and youll be happy with some serious lope.

but if it beat a turbo thats really good. must have really high rev power.

That LSA probbly does it, a 112 or 110 would sound alot meaner.

It's a pretty mild cam with a mild LSA it'll sound that way.

The lsa is totally the reason of it being calm. I have MTI C2 which is a 224 with 581 lift on a 112 with pacesetter lt's /offroad y and slp loudmouth and it is pretty loppy and would be close to your cam. If I knew how to post a vid I would share it with you.
If you know how to, let me know I promise it will put a smile on your face.

Ya, my lil 224/228 cam is just like stock LOL.......452rwhp and 408rwtq with a 12bolt and 4.30 gears and a heavy Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft. I owe a big part of those #'s to the great tune that was done to the car by Don Kinder AKA slowhawk

I like the sound of my tr224 on a 112. It runs like a rapped ape also. Put down 430hp when i had an m6. With heads and intake.

I just put in a mti 224/224 .571 112 and it loops really nice. I havent went wot yet because i put in heads and wanted to take it easy on them for at least a week before going wot. But i have heard the tr224/224 .581 114 cam and you are right it sounds stock just with more power.

I got the TR224 as well. I was rather dissapointed with the lack of lope too. In fact, I hardly feel a power difference, even all the way up to 6600. I'm hoping a tune will make me feel a little better about all the work it took installing it.

lol you guys must have missed the thread titled: "what's the badast sounding cam?"

If it runs well and doesn't break, be happy. Or maybe if you lower the idle a little, it will lope more.

I agree

the TR 224/224@114 was never meant to be a bad *** sounding cam. its more of a sleeper.
