It is just much easier to get a cam with the degree of advance or retard, already ground into it than to install an offset button.
With that being said. Some folks have shown increased performance when advancing the Hot Cam.
Every car is different ...I am sure that there are cars out there that would benefit from advancing or retarding their cam... but the only was to find out would be trial and error for that particualr car/cam combo.
