compression ratio vs. leakdown test(something is wrong)
So redesign of the ring type and tension ain't fixing this. Increase of ring size would, but that would cost money, drop HP a little, drop MPG a little, don't want to fool with CAFE as they make way more money on SUVs and the like. Same goes with the 30 weight oil, CAFE goes down, sure engines will last longer, but who cares about engines lasting past warrenty? CAFE is where its at man. So that's what we got whimmpy rings, light oil. 5/64 or 2mm been used since? forever. Gee lets go to some light tension, thin rings on our high per motor, no we ain't ever done that before so we can't do it one at a time, light tension and then maybe thinner, nope gotta cut 25% on size and 30% on tension, screw the 100 years of auto design before hand.
