Re: Ready for the big leagues: Supercharger? Turbo? Cam & Heads?
Thanks for all your input. I feel like I got the crash course in forced induction. Well, the turbo/headers issues has decided it for me. I put down a deposit on a Vortech supercharger. It should be here in about 5 days and the shop said it would take 2 full days to install. They said they'd also put in copper plugs gapped at 40 (or was it 35?).
So, is there anything else I should have them do while they're in there? (I don't think I can afford the heads & cam right now in addition to the supercharger) The shop mentioned that I might want a boost guage and a fuel pressure guage installed to help in tuning. What do you think? I usually tune via AutoTap logs. Will the guages be helpful? Should I get the guages that mount on the pillar?
Also, speaking of tuning, after the installation I plan to run some AutoTap logs. Should I use the same targets that I normally do regarding KR, timing advance, fuel trims, O2's, etc? Any adjustments to accomodate the supercharger?
