lifter ticking on cold start

lifter ticking on cold start My '01 tahoe 5.3 has a loud tick on cold start up. It goes away after about 20-30 seconds. It has around 100K on the engine, and use mobile 10-30. Is this going to hurt the engine, should i do some kind of flush or what????

you are fine it will make that tick for the rest of its life and its nothing to worry about. I used to work in the chevy service deparpment in Clarksvill Md. every one i have ever gotten it to has that tick
I think I have the same thing on my '96 Blazer. I am chalking it up as a "lazy" lifter. It goes away so I am not too worried about it. Just going to replace a qt with 20-50 next oil change.

My 30kmi stock z28 with strong oil pressure did something similar to what you describe. FWIW, It doesn't do it anymore since I replaced the cam, lifters, heads, cleaned the piston tops, etc...
