Default Sorry, another "ticking noise" post...

I've been getting it for a while and have just been ignoring it cause I've looked for exhaust leaks and I don't think it's where the header meets the head cause I can't hear it from up top. When I'm underneath the car, the ticking is pretty loud. Someone suggested bent pushrods but I have hardened pushrods(along with LS6 springs) so I really doubt I bent them. If I bent a valve, wouldn't that hurt the driveability of the car a lot? (car not starting, whatnot) Any ideas are really appreciated. Thanks

I bent 4 of mine and the the car pretty much ran the same. I drove it for 50 miles after bending them. If it were not for the ticking noise I wouldn't have known they were even bent. I'm sure it affects performance but it wasn't noticable under normal driving conditions.

Good luck...

Mine new 2002 WS6 ticks exactly like you described. It sound louder under the car. I thought it was lifters but the damn dealer told me it was normal then said they couldn't hear it after start up. I can't belive that, the ticking never goes away and can be heard driving past my friends. I'm not happy. The dealer didn't even pop open the valve covers to look at see, just started it up. How can I make them give me new lifters like Slowhawk said??

I just took it to the dealer and they took a listen with me.The tech heard it and called GM on it,they said replace all the lifters. And yes they are under the heads.
I'm surprized they did it.The tapping wasn't very loud. Now it's nice and quiet.Time to put all my stuff back on. <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0">
