Default How do 01's and 02's respond to MAF's?

On the dyno the car was pretty rich in the upper RPMs (upper 11's). So was the 01' ram air with about the same mods as myself. I've heard that some years respond positively to aftermarket MAF's and some have detonation up top. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences on 01' or 02's and what MAF did you use. I'm also looking to purchase ATAP to monitor after the swap, but it would be easier if no adjustments was needed. Thanks.

I dynoed w/ the stock MAF and then with a fully-ported set of stock ends, and I made the exact same power. I saw another 2 degrees of timing, but my KR went up.

I dynoed with a ported stock meter like one shown below and picked up 8rwhp. Which IMO is good for not costing a penny of my mod money.

Do you have any ATap data of before and after? I'd be curious to know if the added power came from more timing, a leaner a/f ratio, or both.

Agave, why the hostility here? I saw the humor in his reply. Please lighten up a little. If you two have a personal issue, keep it on email please.

Sorry no hostility here; I don't even know the guy. For those who wonderred; the maf did lean the car out; and bumped my timing; but I also run octane boost as a precaution at times; to reduce detonation. Hope that helps.

I was told i might get ping till my car got used to all the air coming in. Nope never got ping except for one time i WOT gunned it after school in a hot Florida May. Though i the dyno i did run 12 A/F

John02SS,
How do you like the B&B tri-flow? Notice any gain? I might be thinking about going with the b&b but not sure if its worth the money cause I have the loudmouth. As for the maf(SLP 85mm) I noticed alittle more power but I also noticed it made my car run lean, not sure if its cause I took the screen out and ported the throttle body but I was thinking about porting my stock one or going with maf ends? Anyone else find A better maf for using nitrous also?

I personaly hold the gmaf responsible for my perfect a/f ratio and will also say it was a major contributor to my 11.44 and 119.59 bolt on bests. It gave me 12.8 a/f from 4400 up on the dyno which is about 13.1 at the track(more load). I would recommend it to anyone and it works fine with my hpp3 tuning. I have never heard one hint of ping on 93 octane. Its a good mod for my 01

Wicked SS,
I love the B&B Triflow. It is not as loud as the loudmouth, but has a deep mellow sound. I'm not sure what I gained since I had lid, filter, and ypipe on the car when I dynoed it. After install the car had more torque down low. And the tips are simple awesome! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys, keep em' coming.
