Default What are your Winter plans?

What do you guys have planned this winter/next season in terms of mods etc?
I am going to try a couple of things to hit the 11.1-11.2@119-120mph range in the spring Naturally Aspirated.

First thing is to get the car legal for ten second 1/4 times <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
6 point roll bar (Adds 60 pounds)
5 point harness
studs for the wheels

Then go faster mods <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Install ASP crank and UD pullies. (saves a couple pounds)
Put a quieter exhaust on the car with cutout for track use <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Offroad Ypipe for track use (Saves about 10 pounds over cat pipe and gives about 12RWHP in my combo)
K-Member (34 pound weight savings)
stock looking pin on hood (saves about 35 pounds over stock)
Remove EGR/CRUISE/AIR/foglights (19 pounds)
fix my injured rear 1/4 panel <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Centerline Convo pros 15x7.5 with Hoosier 26x9 inch slicks (30 pound weight savings)
ARE custom 340 Walbro fuel pump and relay.
Line lock
Shift light mounted in the center heater vent with 6400rpm pills (Car revs so fast I have trouble following the tach fast enough in first or second gear)

That should hopefully be enough for Low 11's with traction (1.5x sixty)and good air. If I still can't hook with the new slicks I am going to look at an airbag.

I was out testing the car on Sunday with ATAP. "Spirited" street driving in this car is going to be out of the question without ET streets at around 13psi with a good burnout. Even in Second gear I am vaporizing the tires at a punch. the 4.11's and 4600 stall converter are a "little" too much for the 275's LOL <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> I could only get decent traction when hitting it in third at around 60mph. Even then the tires would spin for a couple of feet and then hook LOL
It is certainly fun though haha <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Cheers,
Chris

Sounds awesome Chris! Just a tad to much power for the 275's, I would say so, LOL

My plans:

*Nitrous prepped, stock displacement short block and swap over all my parts (MTI Heads, cam, intake, pulleys, etc.)

*TNT F2 Wet kit with all the goodies (purge, window switch, gauges, etc.)

*ARE custom 340 Walbro fuel pump

*switch from 26x10x15 ET Drags to 28x11.5x15 ET Drags

Chris, if you're wanting to getthe car truely legal for 10 sec et's, you'll also need an SFI approved balancer, flexplate, and trans shield...

As for my winter plans, they've already started.
*Removed heater core/AC box/vent ducting in dash
*Removed ABS module/installed TCI line-lock
*I'm in the process of a cam/valvespring swap right now
*Wolfe Racecraft sway bar (just arrived here this morning)
*Chromemoly k-member/a-arms (ordered, not here yet).
*Pin-on fiberglass 2" cowl hood (ordered, not expected for another month or so).
*New 28x10.50 slicks (mine are about shot).
*I'm still considering a custom built JW converter, but I don't know if it would be worth the $$$ to do...

Hoping for 10.60's in good air, 10.8-10.9 in our muggy summer air... Might have to dig a little deeper, though.

Winter plans!?! My winter plans are to go to HRP as much as possible to lay the smack down and get a damn 10-second timeslip in this hog. Houston doesn't have a "winter" lol.

Really, my plans are to:

Wax my car
Pray that LS1-Edit for '98 cars comes out
Recover from Christmas expenses <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

Spring plans:
HAL front shocks
Torque arm
10" wide Draglites on back
Lightweight moly crossmember
new trailer (just kidding)
10 second ETs all year long <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

March ’02:

B1 cam + valve train stuff (already ordered)
MTI tuning (already ordered)
MACs w/ RT cats
ASP pulley
FLP Level III trans

Hopefully that will get me into the 11.90s on DRs @113 or so. If not, then a ported TB and LS6 intake are next on the list.

I should have an ARE oil pump and ASP pulley going on in a week or two. By next summer I hope to have some longtubes and an LS6 intake on the car. I'll have over 50,000 miles on her by then so a new clutch might be a possibility too. I'd like to finish off the rear suspension with a new torque arm. That'll probably be it until the engine needs freshening.

Plans:

Drive the SS 1000 miles without a major breakage... Is that too much to ask <img src="images/icons/frown.gif" border="0">
I think MTI's about to find that i need a new piston...might as well replace the rods too.

Also, a 6 point cage with harnesses, track seats, a Willwood brake kit, install the Jamex springs, max negative front camber, and a Corsa exaust (quiet...please???)

And then continue paying off credit cards <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

1) Install 4.10 gears and dial in my shift points
2) Add more timing to test out my reverse flow cooling
3) Install my PA kmember
4) Maybe buy a new light weight bolt on hood
5) Put on skinnies and new hooser 26" slicks
6) Run quicker than PSJ and 9ball with a stock short block & AC <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
7) Install my 375CI iron block motor, or sell it and build a bad-*** 427ci motor

Cool Terry.

I have yet to see a local H-C do better than 11.5 but then again you have some weight reduction mods that will make a difference.

I don't need AC, when it's hot enuff to need it on, it's too hot to race.

Its all in the track you race at <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">
Comparing timeslips from different parts of the country is pretty meaningless in my opinion.
Same day, same track..
Then you can compare <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0">

I'm going to take off a bit of weight, but its hard to really get ahead playing that game. I've added about 65# to the car with the cage, and so far removed about 65# (sway bar, cats, rear panels, rear seat back, stall, ud pulley, front bumper support, fog lights). The Kmember, hood, and skinnies will knock off another 75#, but is that enough to really net anything at the track? Who knows.

I think I have one of the fastest cars still running a stock catback. It's really funny on the dyno, I make 378/383 through the stock catback, and 407/425 with the dual cutouts. Talk about bang for the buck. <img src="images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Default Re: What are your Winter plans?

Things are always open to change when it comes to modding my car. I hope to get an 11-second slip this coming Saturday. That's first and foremost on the list. I also want to get a set of skinnies for the front. I might even try to get them prior to this Saturday. I also eventually want to get a set of rear wheels with Hoosier slicks to match the skinnies (probably Convo Pros). I'm having my Mufflex cat-back swapped out for a quiet SLP dual/dual this week. I'm going to have a cutout installed for the track, but the rest of the time it's gonna be quiet cruising. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> I am also looking to swap to a Yank Thruster Pro converter sometime in January. The converter I'm looking to buy used will stall right around 4,200 behind my stock engine, and it will stall right at 4,400 or so with heads/cam.
Speaking of heads/cam, I've put that off for a little while. However, there are a few things happening that might talk me into doing a heads/cam setup sooner than later. I hope to elaborate on that more in the next few weeks. <img src="images/icons/cool.gif" border="0"> An FLP level IV trans is also thrown into the mix somewhere, but that will depend on the current stock trans. I'm not sure what I'll do for a cage. If/when I do the heads/cam and I don't have a cage, I'm pretty much out of racing at any track except the local "podunks" and River City Raceway. RCR is the only track that will give me air and traction to run nice times without a cage, so I might just take that route and not worry with a 5-pt. If I do end up getting a 5-pt, I'm going to have a removable sidebar and crossbar so I can pull those out for daily use. I don't have people riding in my backseat too often, but I don't want a 2-seater f-body again. been there done that This time around I'm looking for a mid-11 second STREET car with a backseat that can be driven across the country if I feel the need to do so.

Car just went into storage last week. Driving up to Agostino's day after tomorrow to make plans for spring. Headers and cam, ARE oil pump, maybe pulleys. Then an accusump and remote filter.
