Anyone had an HPP3 sent back to Hypertech for unlocking the VIN?
Evidently I got scammed. I bought an HPP3 off the LS1.com classifieds and the thing is still locked into the previous owner's VIN. How much is it to have Hypertech unlock it? I heard $50, but the Hypertech salesman today told me $400. I didn't bother arguing, I was short on time.
If you've had this done, how much was it and what was the turnaround time? Thanks.

$400? That's more than a new one.

No ****, that's why I didn't bother arguing. He was smoking something. He told me it's because the circuit board had to be totally replaced.. somehow in his mind, the circuit board is more expensive than the entire case and everything that's included in a new unit. <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

Can you get the VIN from the scammer? I've unlocked LT1's.....haven't tried unlocking an LS1.
