Re: ENGINE MISSFIRE-- HELP ME~!
What do I know, I'm just a chic, but.... My 2002 Z28 has been at the dealer for 2 days, and had the techs calling Chevy for answers. They wouldn't tell me much. The SES light went on, and over 2000RPM's I was getting a flashing SES. The car was running very rough, and was miss-firing on least one of the cylinders. At one point, there was lots of white smoke coming out of my exhaust, and the car died while I was in bumper to bumper traffic. I think the mechanic was as puzzled as you seem to be. They were getting all kinds of codes, too. All they could come up with, was the possibility that I had gotten a bad batch of gas. Don't laugh. They asked if I had gone to a Speedway for my gas recently. No way. I must have gotten it from a Shell the other night. They ended up running all the gas out of my car, flushing the tank, and cleaning the injectors. They still weren't sure if that would do it. It's running fine now. Another thing. I asked them to put Mobil One in when they changed the oil, and said that unless the specs called for it, they would have to charge me the difference. I said go ahead. They gave me regular oil anyway. The Service rep also argued with me, and said that I should be putting 87 octane in my tank. I told him that I would use nothing less the 93, and that it's in the manual for Z28's. It just goes to show you that we know more about our cars than most of the salesmen, and service guys do.
