can u bore a 98 ls1 block to 3.905?
hey guys i am building a 347 setup for nitrous. is it gonna be ok to go with a 98 block with the thin liners or should i opt for a newer block?

i have a 98 and mine was actually bored to 3.9025 and mines also built for nitrous havent sprayed on it yet, but a bolt did go into my motor about a month ago and the cylinder wall made it out just fine. only needed to replace the piston

I'd use it if it was readily avalible, but if you are purchasing the block, you might as well get the better sleeves of the later models. Not sure on the 3.905. I was told they'd barley take a hone.

According to GM, the early blocks are only allowed a clean up hone of .004"
The 2001+ blocks (2000?) allow a .010" bore.
That being said, a few of us have gone 3.905 on the early blocks. I wouldn't recommend it with a power adder, only if running N.A.
