An article in Circle Track has a new nascar LS2 built by Carl Wegner. It's using stock lifters, spinning 8000 rpm and making 625 hp.

125k miles and you want to use LSK lobes on stockers, your asking for trouble. Most of the guys running old lifters and LSK lobes that think they have no problems... are likely leaving power out there.

Not sure what your plans are but if you are gonna pull the heads for any reason it's a no brainer. Otherwise you might be able to get away with it. Some people have.

stock lifters, but when I do heads I will be replacing them with new ones.

I would reccomend new lifters for anyone doing a cam swap if they have higher miles.

My friend tried to get away with using the stock lifters on his 89000mi motor w/xer lobes only took a week for it to bite him in ***... for what you can get a set of LS7 lifters for its not worth the time to do it twice.

Just did a cam swap about 4 months ago. 125,000 miles on the stock lifters and I don't intend to swap them until I see bits of metal in the oil pan or until I upgrade the heads.

People say that the lifters are cheap...but after you buy lifters, trays, head bolts, head gaskets, and header gaskets, you are in for at least $5-600.

Cam is XFI lobed.

If you are going to run stock heads (assuming you are staying with stock heads since you mentioned running LSK's on stock lifters) then there is no point in using LSK lobes other than it will wear out your valvetrain quicker....

If you plan on upgrading heads later then at that time you could upgrade to a better lifter thus justifying the LSK lobe camshaft now...

Personally either way I would not run an LSK lobe cam unless you have a larger motor with a stellar set of heads, that is really the only instance where I have seen a camshaft using those lobes make a sizeable difference.

Where is the best place to get LS7 or Caddy racing lifters? Are they the same or does one have an advantage over the other? Thanks!

LSK, .640" w/ 200 miles on the stock lifters.. A little ticky, but fresh cam install with cheap synthetic oil for the first 500 miles.. Goin Back to Mobil1 or RP soon.. (Gonna try the RP, weekend cruiser)..

PatG Cam.. Two different lobes.. Can't find the card..

Stock Lifters.

Did heads & XE-R cam at 32,000 miles. Car has 110,000 miles on it now. So 78,000 miles on stock lifters w/XE-R cam.

Normally, I'd make a necroposting comment but this is a good thread. I think a lot of people under estimate the stock lifters. With decently low mileage on them they work well.

Im running Comps LSL lobes, they are more agressive then XER, but less than an LSK. I swapped to Comp 850-16s.
