FAILED EMISSIONS BECAUSE....
I did not have REAR O2 SENSORS in my car. Rather I had the O2 "dummies" (aka sims) My car passed the sniffer beautifully with the headers, boltons, and cam. So what would u guys do?
1.) call flp, ask them to weld in rear 02 bungs?
2.) try another smog place??
3.) put ALL THE stock stuff back on??
the guy specifically told me that if I would have had rear 02's he would have passed me. Even though I have a cam, long tube headers, and such!!!!! ahhahaha..this state is a F-in joke!!!!!!

Oh and I did a pre test, and my car passed too!! but the a-hole didn't go underneath the car like he did in the real test. I walked outa there not payin a dime, i told him "i aint payin if your n ot passin me"

What did he do raise the car up on a lift and look at your exhaust? How did he know that you did not have rear O2's? I would go to another emissions testing garage.
he knew that I had "resistors" by jacking the car up and physically getting underneath the ground and SEARCHING FOR THE rear sensors, until he found the o2 simms...im still debating what im gonna do...
If the car passed the emissions testing then it passed the emissions testing, doesn't matter if you tow an elephant behind you that sucks in the pollutants and farts out oxygen....you passed. That is some BS. Go someplace else and get re-tested, if you can't seem to "pass" by any "legal" means possible then take Benjamin along with you.

Any competent exhuast shop or performance shop should be able to weld in o2 sensor bungs and it shouldn't cost anymore than $50 all together.
However you do have to weld them in after the v-flange on the y-pipe side, and the rear o2 connectors might not reach so you might need extensions or you can just make it look like they are connected.
This is what I think of Smog *****.

I hate getting my car inspected, every time i get it inspected they always give me crap about my exhaust, it's sucks but you'll figure something out.

Another Question:
okay im gonna have to use my stock o2's rear sensor connectors from my stock y pipe and have to put them in my current y pipe by having bungs welded in. My question is, will these o2's be long enough? Will they reach or will i need extensiions you think? One 02 is longer than the other.
Thanks

No offense, but the inspection guy is correct.
Rear O2 sensors monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converters, and are considered an emissions device. By running sims, you effectively defeat an emissions device, which is a CARB no-no. Even if your non-CARB approved headers don't include rear O2 bungs, it doesn't mean they don't have to be there legally. It DOES matter in Kalifornya that you have ALL emissions devices hooked up and operating properly. Unless you go to one of those inspection stations.
I don't know what you were expecting. You got caught. It happens.
As for rear O2 extensions, I honestly don't know the answer. They are pretty long wires, stock, though. They may fit. Also, as said before, any exhaust shop should be able to weld in bungs. Bungs cost about $9 each (give/take), to have them welded shouldn't cost more than $20.
Good luck,
Andrew

Andrew,
thanx for your help. Its just really frustrating to not be able to mod the car like half these other people who have never heard of the word "emissions" before. I tried my luck and failed, but am going to get some bungs welded in the back.
Does anyone know for sure if my stock rear o2's will fit, what i mean by fit is CONNECT, without having to use extensions. The y pipe that I have is the FLP one.
thanks!

I would have someone tack weld the bungs onto the exhaust pipe behind your headers. Not in, but on. Screw in your O2 sensors. Then run the wire up into the engine compartment and hide them in some deep dark place not connected to anything.
Hide your O2 sims in a different place.
Unless he unscrews the sensors and chases the wire, you should be ok.

I agree ... now where can I get one of those oxygen farting elephants ... LOL!
I believe in keeping the "spirit" of the law ... which is to meet or beat the legal allowable pollutant output for your vehicle's make, model, and year ... for anyone to be legalistic about every detail of the law is a bit stupid IMO, right or wrong I don't care ... JHH
So, try another shop ... especially, since you didn't have to pay the last one.

Well Sacramento is one of the worst area's in cali for smog checks! they do them on the side of the road.... those suck! been though that once...
But from what I've gathered there is 2 parts to the test the visual and, the sniffer under various conditions(diff rpm range)
They have books and diagrams telling them what equip your car is supposed to have. The stae cundust sting operations to make sure people are doing they're job corectly(it's a fatty fine if your get caught fudging the test) i.e. putting the info from your car in the comp and putting the sniffer in another car.... that's how I got my old truck to pass.
So you'll need to find a shop that will fudge otherwise you won't get it passed the visual inspection
We need to all of the smog ****'s!!!
