Default Picked my cam!

Going with a 226/226-.556/.556-114.Talked to the guys at ARE and they said I could go with this one and keep my 3550 SY.Nick said it would be good to a 200 shot too.As long as the bottom half holds up(which will be next winters project).I'll be ordering the cam and the stage II+ heads after the first of the year. Then it will be a back-n-forth game with Steve Cole getting my computer tuned.Hope it all works out.

Sounds good H, that's plenty o' cam for a stock cube motor. It will have a lope but it won't be crazy but it will make other C5 guys wonder what's done to your car.

John:Nick recomended it for what I'm looking to do .It was either this one or the 226/234-112,but it would require me going to a 4400 stall.I think a 4400 in a C5 would be little to much.Yeah it's a beefy cam and I went with the big heads so when I do the bottom half next winter I can still use them. Can't wait til spring when I can get it out.It will probably take me some time to get all the tuning worked out with Steve.I'll keep you posted. How's your crazy motor doing?
RH:I'll try to get a hold of my guy at ARE and see if I can get you thoise numbers!!!They were probably all installed in F-bodies.Not to many C5 guys willing to go with huge cams.

That single pattern cam will idle better than that other cam.

H, I went 11.15 with everything working on pump gas, now I have to raise the shift points and see if I can remove some weight from porky.

I don't buy that this cam will work better with a 3500 stall while the other cam would require a 4400. This cam will need a 4400 stall to get the most from it too. With its big duration and 114 LSA, the lower midrange is likely to be weak necessating more stall to get into the power band for a good 60'. I don't see it being much better at 3000 rpm than the 226/234 112 cam.

The 226/226 114 will idle better and your car will fly with those heads and that cam but I'm just not convinced of the logic.

Bob Wenig from the www.mfba.org ubb has this 226/226 cam I do not know where he made peak HP but I'd say 6200-6400. In fact many of the cams we talk about make peak HP around the same area.

Hampton, you could end up needing a bit more stall for the ultimate setup but a 4400 stall is very noticeable.

I agree that a 4400 stall is very noticable relative to a 3500; didn't mean to imply that it wasn't.

I would go TP 4200 with that combo and 3.73 gears min.
That would be the ticket and you could drive it on the street no problem.
hee hee!

True, but the split pattern would make more power on the juice.
