Default Nineball!! On modifying a stock Bird hood

In the FTRA topic, you wrote:

No, you do not have to seal the front of the airbox, and I wouldn't recommend it either. But, if I owned a Camaro I'd definitely do a FTRA setup or similar.
Us Pontiac boys are lucky because we can modify the stock hoods to work even better

I have done this with a dremel and a crapload of cutting disk. I will probably take you a good 4 hours to cut it neatly and make it look good. It does wonders at high speeds. I'm sure nineball has some pics but I will see If I can find some.

You can find the pictures on my OLD webpage which was looking too clustered. Here is the old page:

Nine Ball's Formula

Scroll down a bit, its near the bottom.

Back when I had my 98 NBM Formula, I did it on mine. I saw pics from someone with a white LS1 TA, and kind of followed that example.

Expect to go through NUMEROUS dremel discs, and be sure to leave enough material there to support the hood latch.

The Hawk hood hasn't required such drastic measures... <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I did this on mine a little while ago also. Haven't gotten a chance to try it at the track (not that I run that good anyway...). Definitely plan on a LOT of discs. They do sell heavy duty cutting discs though. You can get an assortment pack at Home Depot for ~$10. Keep your paint protected too, the dust from the discs can really mess things up.
