That's about right for a 180 t-stat. The car should run 12 - 14 degrees warmer than the T-Stat. When I had a 180, my car stayed around 192 - 194 degrees. With a 160 T-stat, you actually run in the 170s.

Thats really strange you had a problem with a core PCM. Last year I bought a '99 blank PCM from Shaun( ValveGod). I now have a '02 WS6 which I'm gonna need custom tuning when I get my heads/cam installed. Well at work I have the equipment to copy flash chips. So for *****&Giggles I copied the program from my stock '02 PCM into my blank '99 PCM. It works perfectly!! It now has over 100 miles on it and no problems. So by copying my stock program it copied everything inside it including the VIN#. It sounds like the MTI PCM was just bad. When I copied my PCM program I was able to review the data. The VIN# is the only number thats not in HEX format. So I was able to change the VIN# to something different and store the changes, then re-burn the chip.

According to what Jayson said, it was an LS1 edit issue. I guess that software just doesn’t have the ability to change VINs yet. Either way, I would recommend that no one else take this chance if they have their stock PCM still available to them to use. Better safe than sorry, IMO. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
Again, I do praise MTI for how they took care of me. Their a great company who will continue to have my support <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

RPM WS6, just wanted to add that you can still use your (if you have one) HPP3 to do your shift points while using LS1 edit. I actually had mine done at Thunder Racing (they use LS1 edit too) for $350 (don't know what MTI charges), then programmed the shift points my self. I agree with you on the TM <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

Yes, they did their version of “power tuning” for the cam I chose.

DanZ28...Thanks for that info! Jayson told me that he didn’t recommend using the HPP3 with LS1 edit, but glad to hear that it works. I might try it out and see if I can get my shift points up a bit if I need to, but I already have a buyer for it. It’s good to know that it can be used though. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
