Default Question on my Cam selection

Can anyone tell me what this cam will be like? Comp Cams 232/234 .595/.598 113 LSA. I'd told my speed shop what i'm looking for and my mods are in the sig. I've also searched LS1sounds.com, as well as read some of the Cam FAQ and i'm looking for any cars that may sounds similiar to mine idling with the new cam. Exhaust setup be be longtube flowtehc headers, off-road pipe and flowmaster muffler.

Sounds pretty good to me. I wouldn't imagine you'd have any problems driving it, especially with the 113LSA and your stall.

You could get a decent idea searching for clips of the F-14. It's the same duration, as far as the 113LSA you'll just have to imagine a happy medium between the 112 and 114 LSA grinds.

As far as your actual grind, you may get lucky and find a member who has it, but I don't know of any.

You need to have the advertised duration numbers also and determine how much overlap the cam has. Idle quality is determined by valve overlap.

I told the shop, who pretty much specializes in LS1 cars I want a nice lopey idle, a decent power increase and something that would be somewhat streetable and work with my stall. I'm doing this mostly for sound, but at the same time, I want a little more power.

if you get rid of the flowmaster, it will feel like you installed a cam.
LOL.
prolly 10-12hp on the table there, IMO.

I have a cutout for the track. In the very near future i'm going to probably do true duals with 1 chamber flowmasters or maybe Borla. I've tried mutiple exhausts (Magnaflow and Hooker) on this car and my last ls1 z and the flowmaster actually sounds the best for the price. I'll definetly dyno it with the cutout open and the cutout closed to see the power difference for myself though.

You'll definitely hear it, and you're going to pick up a substantial amount of power with it. That cam duration is on the middle-upper range of what people generally consider streetable, but it's unique to each person. Personally I think that's just about the perfect size for the street, although I'd run a 112 LSA.

some guys pic up 2hp, some guys pick up 10hp.
ive seen 15rwhp from a 400hp head/cam car over a flowmaster.
youll like the cam.
nasty idle and it should drive pretty smooth with a good tune.

Well I picked the car up yesterday and i'm very pleased. The car pulls really hard, has a nasty lopey idle, but is suprisingly streetable. I'll post the dyno sheets as soon as the shop e-mails them to me. He said they were having a problem reading the torque, but they made multiple pulls and it dynoed a best of 396 rwhp with the converte locked and 375 unlocked. The flowmaster rumor turned out to be true, as it cost me 20 rwhp.
