Default WS6 "Low restriction exhaust" ????

As I patiently wait for delivery of my 2002 WS6 TA/A4 I am trying to determine the best bang for the buck bolt on MODS with whatever doe I end up with. My question is what is the real description of "low restriction exhaust" on the dealership writeup on the WS6 package. Is it just or is it worth leaving on and looking elsewhere for boltons.

I just read in the new GM High Tech that they dynoed a WS6 with the stock exhaust compared to B&B Triflow. The B&B only produced 1 more hp than the WS6 exhaust, so I'd leave it alone if you're happy with the sound.

God yes, leave it on and get some aftermarket tips, I spent $650 bucks on the B&B, and saw 0hp gain on the dyno..

B&B sure looks a lot better, and sounds a hell of a lot better, but no difference in performance..

I would be more worried about what was going ahead of the muffler. Off road pipes, headers, etc. are going to give you the largest gains in the exhaust system. If you want a little more at the track get a cutout. Most (not all) of the mufflers are the same. I guess you have already covered the basics like a new airbox lid. If I had it all to do over again I would have started with offroad pipes, stickier tires, and the lid.

the ws6 exhaust is good and is better than the stock one on the regular t/a but i thought the exhaust was 3 inch but i then heard it is 2.75.my corsa is 3 inch all the way.i hated my single tips and got corsa but i guess if i could find corsa tips i could live with the ws6 exhaust.

The stock exhaust on the WS6 is pretty good actually. I put a cutout and some new tips on mine. It just wasn't worth throwing a whole ton of money at it to pick up 2-3 hp by getting a cat back system.

Best bang for the buck mods in my opinion would be a lid and a cutout.

man the new exhaust systems are really nice now. i remember i got 9 RWHP from just a cutout! i guess with the new systems, a little cutout for sounds and a BIT of power is worth it. then again, if you are considering a 700 dollar catback system, you dont care about the little gain in power.

Megs makes some really nice tips.

Check out Summt or Jegs. They carry a lof of different tips.

Oh one other thing, is it just me or do the 02s sound louder than the 00 (stock)?

For a relatively stock LS1 the WS6 muffler should be fine, but once you start adding major stuff (heads, long tube headers, etc...) you should probably get a 3" catback or 3.5" Mufflex catback.

The muffler is crap, get one that flows more or put a cut out on it

I love it when someone says the stock piece flows badley after seeing others with dyno results and magazine testing that says the stock WS6 system is almost as good as no system at all.

The stock exhauxt is fine unless you just don't like the sound, my advice would be a cutout!
