LS1 EWP horsepower claim-final answer?
That last post was like 6 pages long, getting to jumbled and out of control. I've read a couple of different "claims", so to speak, as to how much hp you can gain. I want to get all the worthwhile bolt ons before I start tearing into the engine. So, for a STOCK engine what kind of gains could I expect? If you have h/c would the gains be more or less? I'm sure all this has been discussed, but like I said the other post just got too confusing. It's a beautiful piece. If I could bolt this on my stock engine today and gain 15-20hp with that mod alone I will buy it for $900. That's in line with other bolt on mods.

FWIW:
I'd think with your ASP underdrive pulley you already getting as much as 1/2 of the benefit. The ASP is regarded as being worth about 1/10th by reducing parasitic loss. The EWP also reduce parasitic loss but more effectively. The EWP might allow you to lean out more as it is more effective in cooling and cools the heads first. They were saying 2/10's so I'd think you might be another 1/10 provided the EWP lives up to expectations.

FWIW I personaly dont care how much HP it is rated to put out, or who/what promises are made in that respect.
I do wonder if it will actually deliver 3.5 tenths installed on a modified LS1 equipped with an automatic tranny. <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" /> 3.5 tenths!
I know it has been promised too... <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

Sorry John, it works on every car but The Pepper. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> It does strike me as odd that you picked up ~75 at the wheels and you just happened to go ~7 tenths faster with the heads/cam setup. Those returns don't sound demished. Hmmm...The electric waterpump setup will net you another 25+ at the wheels and no ET improvement...? I don't understand. I'm just gonna sit here and hold my sign.

Bernie,
For your information it takes about 20-25RWHP to go a tenth faster once you hit the tens in the 1/4 mile.
So put your BS flag away.

I disagree. If the car was heavier with a weaker converter and less gear, I'd agree. I don't think it's gonna take another 50rwhp to see 10.60's out of his combination (two tenths faster). In one of my earlier posts I predicted at least a tenth and a half for the 25rwhp in John's car. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Jay you need to test what the pump adds over someone who already has a UD pulley and a few mods. No one really cares what you will get with a completely stock car, because none of us run completely stock cars. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Yeah...I have an underdrive pulley for sure. I think the underdrive certainly isnt like 1/2...more like 20%. So I figure that if there is 10hp wasted on the WP stock, I have 8hp wasted right now. If in the dyno tests that Joe and Jay are promising, we see 17hp on a modded car, I wont be surprised to see approx 15hp on my car. Then again, I'd certainly pay $850 for 15hp over a wide RPM range.

installing out water pump with NO other changes you will get 17rwhp and 15rwtq, we've seen it on 3 different cars that we've tried it on so fat and they were all stock except for the pump, with that kind of gain should net you a .2 decrease in ET on a STOCK car.

Is that gain over the entire powerband? If it is and I can gain 15hp/.2 w/ my bolt ons that I already have, I will buy it no doubt. Guess now we need to see some dynos and timeslips coming in <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Terry
we did test the pump on a bolt on car with an ASP pulley and we netted 17rwhp but it wasn't back to back and there were different ambient conditions so the gains can vary.
As per your question of gains across the rpm band yes you do get gains but they get greater as RPM's go up. Less load per RPM on the pump and the additional cooling at the higher RPM's to prevent detonation
