ABS INOP after 4.10 gears and recent clutch
My ABS is no longer functioning, this started happening about 3 days after I had the 4.10 gears in the rear. I have not done any tuning to adjust the PCM for the gearing, could this be the problem ?
Thanks, Gary
Thanks, Gary

1) Check to make sure ABS module is plugged in in back.
2) If you don't have traction control, then maybe the reluctor wheel got messed up during a gear install.

I checked the ABS module, I think I did. Where exactly is this ABS Module, the only electrical sensor I saw on the rear was the one right above the rear end housing, I do not have traction control. As far as the reluctor rings, what are they, and how can they be messed up. Thank You.

1) ABS module is on the rearend. Make sure it's completely plugged in.
2) I just threw this out as an idea. A non-asr car has the reluctor/trigger wheel for the ABS inside the pumpkin, on the carrier itself.
3) Also check up front, there is a fuse for the ABS.
On my car...
1) Unplugged <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
2) No reluctor wheel with 9"
3) Removed the fuse too.

John, don't overlook the obvious!
Gary, you MUST do computer adjustments if you perform a gear swap on these cars. Looks like you need to purchase a Hypertech programmer to correct this. Your ABS isn't working because your pcm thinks the front and rear wheels are travelling at different speeds since your gearing is different than stock.

- Thank you Tony, I had mentioned that in my original post. I had thought that I read about this a long time ago. It looks like this is the culprit.
Thanks Again, Gary

- Thanks Bill, I had one up until a few months ago when I sold it to get custom tuning. Well I never got custom tuning, so I have been trying to get a used one for around $200 shipped, they are out there, but I have been too slow in getting on the deal. I'm sure the problem is due to the tuning, so I will continue to have my eye out for a used one.
