I think the later oil pumps were better. When cold my will run at 60psi while driving. In hot weather it will run at 40-45psi at cruise. At WOT hot it will reach 60psi.
This is with 5w40 Euro Amsoil and a K&N Gold Filter.

I got some "low" oil pressure readings when I went with Fram on my first oil change. Then change it to AC DELCO...still didnt liked it. The I went with K&N.....excellent oil pressure...never looked back. I think part number is KN# 2006.

mine does the same thing...perfect at start up , but when i drive for a while and come to a complete stop, it will fluctuate in between 30-40psi. but it will return to 40psi once i give it gas.
i was told it could be the opsu, havent changed mine yet though...im also going to try thr k&n filter first to see if it helps any.

0-30GC, 76K miles on the motor, WIX filter, this is right after I swapped IAC's before it re-learned its idle, so its idling a bit high and all, but it NEVER EVER goes below a HAIR over the 40 line.

BTW, my LT1 idled at 18psi and under WOT would go to about 55psi or so. It never had a problem as far as I know, that was with 15-40 Rotella T in it. Low, yes, ever sieze up or anything? No, had 170K on it when I sold it.

From what I have read I thought that 01 and later ls1's were equipped with the ls6 style oil pump. Maybe that was a rumor. Oh and I was wondering where is that OPSU? What did it cost? How long of an install?

So what happens when you have good oil pressure at idle and while cruising...but when you rev it up under load the oil pressure drops rather than increases with RPM??????

You are completely overthinking everything. You oil pressure is perfectly fine where it is. Mine sits there on a daily basis. Never have a single issue. I feel its all about finding the right filter/oil combination for YOUR motor. Mine runs great on Napa Gold Filter and Castrol 10w-30. I tried a few other oils and have had oil pressure ranging from 20psi - 45psi hot. 40 psi - 60 psi cold and all these were effected only by changing oil and filter.

My oil pressure did the same thing at 38,000. Always ran just above 40 at idle, never lower. One hot day I saw it twitching around bad between 35-40.
I put 4000 miles on it in the past 2 months. Still runs just above 40 most of the time.
In every situation it still goes to about 65 when revved.
I just had my intake off to do knock sensors and seen the oil sender, thought of changing it but didn't.
While putting the intake back on I looked real good and I'm sure the sender can be changed without removing the intake.
I'm not worried because my 1992 silverado did the same thing, I put a mechanical gauge on it and it was fine. The gauge on that would freak out at idle a lot so i changed it and it's been fine since.
If the oil pressure reads steady low I might be concerned, but if the needle jumps around it's almost always a bad sender.
