Default Put on a new muffler, no real weight saved

I've been running around with the stock Z28 muffler and dual tips, so I figured I'd throw a dynomax super turbo muffler on to save a few pounds. It turns out the dynomax muffler with single turndown comes in around 17#, and the stock muffler with tips around 24#. I was hoping to save 10-15# for $100, but only saved 6-7#.

While the car was in the air I removed the pan hard bar support brace. I've been told its as much as 8#s, but it turned out to be only 2-3#. I left it off anyway.

Next time at the dyno I will take a full with the exhaust closed. Last time I did (peak) 378/383 closed exhaust and 407/425 open. Maybe I picked up 10rwhp in street trim or something, shrug.

On the plus side, the car is quieter than stock with the dynomax muffler, and has that neat six cyl look to it. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Terry dot forget to remove ALL heat shields too
And go to a SINGLE side exhaust w/a dynomax race magnum in a round configuration. Its looks bad *** w/one 3in tipcomming out from under the car.It will be loud though but at least 15lbs lighter

I just ordered my dynatech headers and mufflex is making me a custom 3in X or Y pipe.I havent decided yet if I wanna be able to drop the exhuast at the tracka nrun collectors only?

I want my car to be quiet like stock, it makes it more fun to race around where I live (tons of cops).

JS I don't think your car will ever be done, its sounding like one of those 2 year never ending projects where you're just waiting for that last part to come in to finish it. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> Are you going to race it with the stage 2 cartech setup so we can all see how its not much better than your JPR stuff?

I was just trying to help
And YES I will run the car at the SAME weight in the SAME conditions w/MY 7000 Mile STOCK SHORT BLOCK FIRST to see what its worth.
I'm curious too Terry.

But u do contradict your self from time to time
Last week u said it was MY VERTER that got me my old Ets.Now u say its the JPR S1 setup that got me the Ets? Well, which one is it Terry?

We all know u say whatever is good for the given situation.

But unlike u Terry I POST FACTS.
Here's one for u to suck on....
My JPR S1 setup KICKED YOUR SORRY *** MMM STAGE-9XYZ SETUPS ***...

Now after pointing that out,I'l give u my opinon on what the Cartek setup should run.

3 tenths and 3 MPH.
Lets see if I'm correct in a month....

Please! You're only .2ths ahead of my car. (does your car even run now?). I'm still running 3.23s, no skinnies, and a moderate stall, not to mention my AC works. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

I didn't just say the JPR stuff got you your ETs, it was all in the stall. I just said I can't wait until you put the Cartech stuff on so we all see how its not much better than what you had before.

Terry lets weigh both cars and see which one is heavier. My money is on mine.So I went 2 tenths faster than u in a heavier car.

Hmmm?

U have a MMS S2X setup
I have a stock valved S1 setup w/224 Cam

So I went quicker with more weight and using smaller parts. It looks like MMMS should be upset?I mean a S2X w/large cam,big header going slower than my JPR S1 setup

Boy r u gonna be depressed when I click off
11 TEENS at a race weight of 3550...

Lastly Tony is correct
Your a lonely troll that needs attention
See ya

JS
Fact:I am quicker than Terry

Well, this thread has strayed FAR from its original intent. Start a new thread about your muffler weights if you wish Terry, this one is done!
