WTF? Damn fuel rail!!

Am i missing something? I bent my fuel rail taking off the wet kit. I got a used 98 fuel rail and put it on this weekend. There was a huge leak at first on #5, but i took out the injector and found i had scuffed up the oring. i replaced it and it all seemed fine. Thatw as saturday morning. Went to the track yesterday. No problem. This morning whe i started it up, it cranked a couple of times before it started. Like there wasn't fuel in the line. Well, when i got to work I opened the hood with it running(couldn't see ****) and i could smell the fuel. Was there some special step i didn't do? All the o-rings are in there. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

Pull the rail again and check all your injectors and seals. Make sure all the harness's are plugged in as well.

That's what i figured. Nothing special to it. Just a bullshit design.

If you too aggressive putting the injectors back in you can split the o-rings.

You need to go over your work.

I have an extra fuel rail if you need one, but it sounds like an install-related issue.

Don't overtighten the bolts for the rail either...

found the culprit to an extent. It's the #5 injector where it meets the fuel rail. I put a new o-ring in there saturday right after i finished b/c of a severe leak. What happens if it tighten the fuel rail too much? You can only go so tight with that plastic intake?

Joe, the rail takes a very low tq...

I don't have it handy, perhaps someone does, I will look for a link. Otherwise you will split the o-ring or even strip the intake.

Alright. Thanks John. I know it isn't tight enough to strip anything. Didn't even think about it splitting the o-ring from screwing down the intake too tight. That is a possibility. gonna mess with it tonight. Thanks again.
