I might become Ls1 382ci SS
Well, I have finally decided to get an ARE 382 stroker longblock. I need some help on the cam though. I am moving to illinois soon and am in need of a badass cam that will give me some good times and will pass emmissions through the cats. also since I am going to a bigger displacement i don't know what some of the specs some of you with 382's are runnning. any info will help in determining what cam I run in this engine.

Talk to Nick, he'll set you up with a killer cam for your car. ARE is great when it comes to cam selection. Later

Re: I might become Ls1 382ci SS
Is this an All-Bore 382ci or an All-Stroke 382ci?
I ran 11.13 on motor with the T1 cam (221/221) and the car idled/sounded/drove like stock. The T2 cam in the motor now (232/232 .574 112) idles rougher (sounds like a T1 in 346ci) but was worth only 10 rwhp over the T1 cam. Not sure if I'd do the trade-off again, it was so fun being sneaky!

Re: I might become Ls1 382ci SS
I am doing the all bore 382. I currently have the MMS 224v3 cam 224/224 .566/.566 114. I was thinking of maybe a cam somewhere around 224/224 .580/.580 114 I wonder how that would do on emmissions with the 382. any ideas?

The cam you have right now can be used no problem and will pass epa with the proper tuning, you will also save a bit on the cam. Tony is right on the cam you will not pick up alot of power unless you are looking at a good shot of No2? I just happen to have a 382 rotating in stock!
Give me a call and we can get things going.

actually the cams I was looking at are 224/224/ .581/.581 114 or 226/232 .568/.568 112. I am going to call are later this week to discuss this. any help on what might help me out on reaching low 11's? on motor?

Actually Nick, I am doing this through Speed inc in Illinois. I think Tom Izzo asked you on some of this info a few days ago. i'll see if I have time to give you a call tomorrow or Tom will call you. so the 224/224 .581/.581 114 cam might be a bit too much? I am planning on some no2.

No Problem, the 226/234 cam we have will make great power all around and if a cam change is going to be made I would pick this one for the No2 usage later on.

Ls1 346ci SS,
Tom @ Speed, Inc. is on holiday all week, his wife just had a baby.
You emailed me before with a few questions...
IMO, you need to write down some parameters in addition to passing emissions, like how high you want to shift the car, and how driveable you want it. IMO a 114 LSA will make things a lot easier.
I'd go with the big valve heads.

thanks prostock, I talked to Tom the day his wife was having the baby. as soon as he gets bac we'll be talking. he told me the longblock will come with the stage 3 heads but we'll talk about the specs as soon as he gets back. I wanna get this done right the first time. I have been talking to Bradws6 on advice as well.

Re: I might become Ls1 382ci SS
It is very close on the 346 but may pass on the 382, we have not tried it but you would be surprised what a good set of cats and programming will do. Just as a note, we had a 237/242/114 pass in our 422 more that once and passed with flying colours. Nowe that I am thinking of it, we had a 382(stroke engine) pass with the 230/237 114 no problem; I would say yes.

556/572 on 112. We can do this cam or what ever you think you want, this one will drive great and make lots of power. With the big bore we use the stage 3 heads 2.08 x 1.60 and double springs.
