Getting ready to do the bump stop mod but my A-tap reads the TPS in volts not degree's. Any one know the correct voltage for close to 90 deg.? Currently it reads 4.4 Volts. Do the older versions of A-tap read in deg.?

you should have a throttle posistion angle in a-tap. 0-100%. my gfs grand am went to 100%, mine only went to about 89%...fixed that problem right away <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

you can use a voltmeter- thats how i did mine.

From what I've seen, the voltage will vary a little from car to car, 4.6V will probably be close. The idea being here to get the TB butterfly at a 90 degree angle, but do not exceed about 4.73-4.75 V as supposedly codes will be set if the voltage holds @ 4.75 for a certain amount of time. If I remember right, Autotap only reads down to .1 V, but you probably won't have to go over 4.7V anyway. I used a DMM when I did mine, and ended up with 4.63V with the meter.

Thanks a lot for all the info guys!! Looks like I should shoot for 4.6-4.7V then. Also, a buddy of mine said that the DOS version of A-tap reads in degrees. I will check it both ways and see how the volts measures up in degrees. Again thanks guys...

Gained ~1.5 mph at the track by adjusting from 4.1 volts to 4.6 volts.

TRACTION CONTROL GUYS: About 95% of all ASR/TCS cars CANNOT achieve true WOT because of slack on the throttle cable. You can adjust this on traction control cars only. There is a knuckle adjusting thingy (don't know the technical name) in the middle of the cable. There is a snap ring holding the cable down on the knuckle, just pop that up by releasing the little tabs on each side, and pull the cable easily in either direction to loosen or tighten the cable. Keep checking your TPS voltage until you get the TB bump stop to touch completely. If this puts you past ~4.6 volts, just adjust until you achieve that.

Sorry for the sketchy directions. It's a VERY simple procedure, but at the same time kinda hard to explain without showing someone in person. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I had to do this to mine when I put the BBK on.. I even had to cut the ends a little with a dremel to get it at WOT.. I'll show you this week if you have time..

When you told me you were doing this, I was thinking when you floor it, the rotating assemble on the throttle body was hitting the bump and you had to shave the bump back slightly to get 100% throttle..

Lets hook up this week and see if we can figure it out...


By the way, the code in my car went away as soon as I pulled out of the track. I think it was trying to scare me out of racing.. So I don't need your A-tap just yet.. Thanks man for letting me use it..

my scanmaster reportss 4.3 volts AND 100% TPP (throttle position percentage). Wonder how far off from 100% that 4.3 volts on TPS actually is--anyone?

Not sure 'exactly' what you're asking, but you want to go by voltage and not % opening. I used a voltmeter myself. I just happened to be over 4.6v stock.

scanmaster reads TPS voltage and TPP--throttle position as a %. 100% is open all the way, etc.

I've got 4.3 volts with the it to the floor, but it's also reading it at 100% TPP--again, position of opening expressed as a percentage

how do you do it with a voltmeter? What wires do you use? I'm assuming you can just poke through the wire coating with a pin and touch the volt meter lead to the pin.
