on different days with different weather. sure I belive that, thats easy, I've gained that much with no changes, on different days.

I dont doubt you saw those gains, i simply doubted that you saw them same day/same weather. Looks like I was right.

I should be getting a MAFT soon, but as to when i dyno again i dont have a clue

So, in 10 degree different weather with similar humidity (actually, it was more humid on the better pass) you’ve seen gains of 5.62 mph and 5.6 tenths? Now that I highly doubt.

How much difference does 10 degrees make? A tenth and a mph? Ok, so he gained 4.62 mph and 4.6 tenths. That’s still damn good if you ask me.

I can see that you’re going to argue this point until we’re both blue in the face (so to speak) because you’re trying to defend your purchase. That’s fine. I guess anyone would. Point is, I disagree with you. I don’t think the Hookers are “all that”, actually I think they take a back seat to SLPs for the time being until I see more proof that they are worth it.

Different strokes man,... different strokes.

I dont know how much the weatehr was different dont have any way of telling, my point is simply that weather plays a major part in times and MPH. I HAVE varried from 100.01 to 106.16 MPH on the EXACT SAME DAY less than 2 hours apart. no i didnt install anything (I put a timing tricker in later and ran 110 though) also you have some driver input that can skew the results as well. these are the reasons i put more faith in dyno numbers than MPH to get an idea of what kind of imprvement a mod makes.

Lets assume that he did gain 5 true tenths and 5 true MPH. how many others have done that? maybe he got really lucky. I dont know, but from what you said so far your basing the data on 1 guy who ran good.

I realize you dont agree with me, but as im sure you can also tell, I dont care. Im not defending MY purchase, I know you dotn care what I buy, and I stoped caring what others think of what I do long ago. I am however trying to keep things in perspective for anyone considering ANY headers. So far I have the only solid data on the Hookers, so there simply isnt enough info to make a good estimate of where they fall in the order of long tubes. If i remeber correctly the SLPs first dyno was pretty dissapointing as well. I remember tons of "see FLPs are 10 times better than SLP headers" kinds of posts. obviously that was proven untrue, now they are right on par with each other, and the discussions usualy center around ground and floorboard clearance.

If the Hookers turn out to suck, I'll be the first to say so. But considering Ive already picked up about half of what the average FLP/TTS/SLP headers that ive seen dynoed pick up, and I am near 14:1 A/F ratio, I am fairly confident that they will end up performing just as good as the others in the long run. If not, then hey, so be it. Got half the gain for half the price. maybe I would switch to another brand later on. but im not doing anything just yet

Just called the Hooker tech guy...he said that the "49-state legal" part is a mistake. These headers are "designed" as an off-road, "racing only" part.

Wink-wink, nudge-nudge... <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

They have all the EGR and AIR fittings "just to make installation easier."

All right, let’s do that. Let’s keep it in perspective. The current perspective is that Hookers aren’t making the numbers. If that changes then so shall the perspective. It’s really just that simple.

There was a time that I didn’t care for the SLPs either, you’re right that the first dynos didn’t look to good on those either. As those results changed so did my opinion of the headers. Can the same be said for the Hookers? Not yet, but perhaps in the future.

Doesn’t change the fact that there are still reasons for some to choose SLPs over Hookers, regardless of dyno results. Some of us want RT cats, some of us want a pre-built Y-pipe, some of want stainless steel and coating from the factory. If you get/add on all these options to the Hookers the savings isn’t that big. And if you wait to get SLPs on a GP or something the price would basically be identical.

BUT, you still missed part of my point here, and I thought I made it very clear at least twice. “It would be a boring world if we all had the same mods” and “different strokes”. What’s my point? It’s good to try different things, but don’t expect everyone to agree with your logic or reasons. I hope I’m clear on that now. I think we all push the mods that we have. We obviously bought what we’ve bought because we thoght it was the best choice for some reason(s) and therefore we push it on other people looking for the same type of mod. I like what I buy and I buy what I like. I think we all do that – you, me and everyone else on this board. Who the hell buys something they don’t like? And if you like it you defend it. If you turn out to hate it you end up taking it off your car as soon as you can afford to.

I don’t think I could make my point any clearer in this post.

For any of you that are concerned with ground clearance I have some photos from Hooker that show ground clearance and also what the Y-pipe looks like. E-mail me and I will send them to you.

you can buy CnL (Carsound) 3 inch cats for 99 bucks a piece.
Easy as pie to get them on the car too.
Cheers,
