Well first of off I like it. The quality of the kit is first rate and it includes EVERYTHING you need to install it. Install took all of 10 minutes ~~ When I started it up after you could hear the air being sucked in.. It wont be dynoed until early feb but SOTP says it did something.. Car feels very responsive. PIC:

Also of note is that it is VERY light.. the air cleaner is real CF and has almost no weight.. the entire filter assembly alone weighs less than my old holley filter.. I weighs maybe a pound less but less is better than more.
Cost. I got it for $260. Some might say thats a lot but if you break it down its a great price. Example
Before: MTI CF (fake) lid = $150
K&N small filter for air hose = $15
Holley Powershot filter = $45
Filter cleaning kit = $15
Baker hose mod (from MAF to TB) = $30
Add that all up and you get $255.00
After: K&N FIPK system $260 (Jim Pace GP)
and it includes the small K&N filter, air filter, cleaning kit and a Baker type hose to replace the bellows.. PLUS this kit is CARB certified (a good thing when you in CA).. technically the lid violates smog laws..
I will post dyno numbers in a few weeks but Ive heard of good gains with this system.. when you thing about it there are zero restrictions to the flow ~ Now should I chrome the base or have it CF covered?? hmmmmm

That is very nice there. I have been wondering whether to get one.
One question about the kit: Is there any openning on the base so that air can come from the bottom?

Yeah it looks nice, but I am wondering if it gave you any hp gains over a whisper lid. Please let us know what it does

Re: Just installed new K&N FIPK.. pic included..
no opening but you could certainly add one.. IMO there is plenty of air in the front area.. plus the SS hood still funnels cool air into that area..
It feels like a good gain from the SOTP meter but dyno day will tell

I got 22 rwhp on the dyno with mine Anxious to see what you get. No one else that I know of has done a dyno, other than me ... Hope you get as good or better

Wonder how that will work with the FRA. I'm assuming it will not work as well as a lid with the FTRA because its not a sealed system.

Please post your numbers after the dyno, and try one with the hood down. Looks GOOD!

Is that 22 over a lid or over the stock setup and were there any other mods done?

Ok.. i get the hood down but why no fan?? Anytime your moving (real life) there is a LOT more air than what the tiny little dyno fan makes..

I'd be interested to see how much it helps as opposed to a FTRA and a good lid with a K & N oem-style filter on the track where the air is moving. Dyno #s should be interesting though, let us know!!

First off im a big fan of a lid and a FTRA.. only problems are water intrusion and partial blocking of the radiator (so ive heard).. I was considering the possibility of getting several louvers added to the metal plate just below the filter.. this would allow even more air up from beneath. I will also do some testing by mounting a thermometer near the filter to see what temps are in driving around. I like the idea of Auto-tapping to see what the inlet temp is ~~ On my testing road trip the butt-o-meter said it was working well.. we will see if science can back that up

Damn! That really cleans up the bay and looks really neat. My only concern is, won't that setup block alot of air coming from under the car. I have no idea what it does, but just from the looks it seems it may only benifit a ram air type hood? I have a T/A (no r/a hood) and luckily I can benifit from upper air because I cut out the metal box on the hood latch so it opened up my little nostrils....

Looks even better on the car!
I asked management if I could extend this special for you guys and they let me do the following:
ONLY 10 kits for 10 more days from 1/21/02
So, I can let 10 more kits, first come first serve, out the door until end of January (1/31/02)
